I think that seasons open up a lot of possibilities why not make the game a little more challenging adding a cold or hot bar as well with water so there is a chance that you could freeze to death die from dehydration etc. and maybe the mobs in-game change as well like your dog becomes noticeably furrier and same with sheep.

For this to work well in game a lot would probably need to be added. Here are some basic ideas:

More dynamic weather. Local weather as well as temperatures/biome specific weather.

Improved farming mechanics. basically crops would die in winter/colder temperatures and growing steadily in better (not to hot or cold) temperatures. Also different crops should grow better in different claimants/temperatures.

Grass could be slowly replaced by frosted grass and snow in some biomes in the mornings when in winter.

I love it! There needs to be a reason to keep progressing in Minecraft. As it stands, all you have to do is kill sheep, find three diamonds, and you're basically set for the game; everything past that point feels more like padding than survival.

If you have to prepare for winter, ala Don't Starve or Stardew Valley, it would make things so interesting without having to explain anything; it's intuitive. You could make seasonal farming, so that managing your crops takes care and is rewarding in and of itself. Watermelon and strawberry season during summer, carrots and potatoes during spring, etc.

As winter creeps closer, I imagine longer nights and weather effects, exposed crops and torches getting snowed on. Hell, maybe winter mobs that could seige your base during the winter solstice, kind of like a raid, with unique drops to them that fit in with the survival theme.

I was just about to post this! Seasons are really needed, because trees can’t stay green forever. Leaves should fall, too, when it turns autumn!

The desert isn’t always hot. It snows in the desert in real life. Trust me, I live in California, the whole southern part of the state is desert and it snows here.

Another aspect for Servers, allow Servers to sync seasons to the real world time. So in the winter months the other terrain areas start to snow

Would love the idea that snowy taiga biomes underwent seasonal changes too but in winter they have calm snow to blizzards. Other biomes like plains would have regular snow

It would also make the game more realistic and complete.

If you have seasons, you would have to have some sort of calendar

This would be the best possible thing they could do to the game - due to it covering all pre-existing areas too.

I have always wanted this in Minecraft and I think it would make gameplay a bit more challenging and therefore more fun and if this was added it could lead to people having more different buildings in different seasons for the builders and more exploring opportunities for the adventurers and oh don't forget the role players since they will most likely enjoy this the most from bringing Minecraft to a realistic feel with its amazing fantasy features.
