I likie this idea but maybe it should be an optional feature when creating a world.

I like the idea that there would be at least 1 main Biome matching each Season that isn't affected by the Seasons. This would allow the player to choose which Season they prefer the most, and be able to have their base set up in that environment permanently.

I think there should also be an option to disable Seasons, in case you feel like they're too in the way or anything like that. (this would preferably not count as a cheat so that Bedrock players could still get Achievements after disabling/enabling Seasons)

Take a look at the mod RLCraft with the temperature causing a bit more difficulty, or it could be just for the look, when it started snowing in an RLCraft world, the snow didn't completely cover the ground and some grass poked through which made it look really nice, and it melts away when its spring :)

Perhaps someone else has made this comment, but I did not locate it. Incorporating a monsoon season in applicable biomes would be a nice addition. Where I live, in the desert mountain, it rains for two to three months straight. This happens every couple years and in the off years, there is a drought. The equivalent biome would be mesa biome. Other applicable biomes would include: jungle and tropical/beach.

To keep it educational, maybe around 3 moon cycles would change the season... but that's not exactly exact either, but devs can look into it if they want it to match earth

Would make plains and snowy tundra interchangeable, as well as taiga and snowy taiga.

My brother and I were recently talking about this, we both agree it would be a nice feature. Having it be tied into the real world seasons would also be cool. I think this would be an amazing idea and could set a bit more challenge to the player(depending on the affects seasons would have on the game)

The season cycle should be 100 days, like don't starve

Minecraft Seasonal Update! I could see this being a minor update as soon as the end of next year. I know, that's a long while from now, but think of all the cool stuff we'll have before then: better Mountains and quite possibly Caves!

I think the weather cycle could also be updated, so that rain and storms do not occur across the ENTIRE world at the same time. This could introduce more cloud textures for incoming "fronts" seen in the distance. The sizes of these systems could vary from just a few clouds to a hurricane, multiple-biome sized storm.

The rain could also create tiny water sources over a long period of time, much like snow appears in snowy biomes, but would take much longer and would not flow as far. Or blocks could have a puddle texture that makes it look like the rain has accumulated on it after a while.

Flowing rivers would also be a nice addition that fits well in this update. In winter certain rivers could freeze over, assuming it is in between 2 biomes like a forest and taiga, and not adjacent to a desert. Maybe wider rivers could be introduced because as of now they are typically only a few blocks wide. Even features like deltas and biomes like wetlands could be added!

I'd assume others have said this, but the seasons should be kept to visual changes only for the most part.

Honestly would bring so much life into the game and create a lot of immersion with a mostly simple change

You should add a variable called temperature for determining when snows or when the water freezes.

30 Minecraft days could be one season or something. I enjoy the idea of having to adapt to the changing world. It adds more depth. Seasons would give you a sense of time too, which might add more to the game. So if 30 MC days were a season then 120 MC days would be a year. That would be interesting to take note of in your world or something. Some animals you might not see out and about during the winter, and zombies could move slower. You'd only find Spiders in caves during the winter. I'd love to see a winter affect my vegetation and the summer somehow affect my player. More rain in the spring. Leaves changing color, or disappearing in the winter. Villagers could change their appearance by the season.

What if there were like a fur that you could get from killing wolves or something lol. You can use to upgrade your armor to have fur underneath to keep you warm in the winter?

A Seasonal Update would be dope

What about making seasons an option in the generation menu, that way one is conscious about changes in the world such as water freezing and can choose either a classic style of play or a season one. I believe seasons would benefit the overall ambience in Minecraft giving it more realism and making the landscape more alive, it could even be linked to mob behavior or seasonal events within villages or other places... Adding to the Mob behavior, we could even see in the future things such as migrating birds..... I think the overall idea has a lot of potential.

That would be one of the best things they can add

I really like this idea! Although, I think it would be beneficial if the season system could be disabled without turning on cheats, as this gives players that don't like the idea to just carry on and benefit from any new items added.

In the winter some animals should hibernate

This is a very creative idea I think it should definitely be added to the game. It would make gameplay much more interesting and enjoyable. I feel certain mobs should also change based on the seasons.

Perhaps fleeced armour could be required during winter to prevent passive health loss. It would require wool and a piece of armour (any level). This would also probably slow your movement speed by 10%...

Desert, savanna, and jungle biomes could have a rainy/dry season cycle while the rest that make sense could have the temperate four season cycle

I suggest instead of one moon cycle, maybe once every 20 in game days. When the player first spawns in the world it is spring. Any legacy or old worlds that receive this update would start in spring. Effects should be something like this:

Spring: standard precipitation and mob spawning; Grass appears bright green and leaves are green as well. Any snow layers out in the open will melt and crops will grow very fast.

Summer: more rain and husks will occasionally spawn at night. Enemies spawn at a rate of 60% as opposed to default (spring).

Fall: Less rain and grass appears darker green. Leaves on trees appear brownish as well. Crops will also begin to grow 50% slower than they usually do. Mob spawning is increased by 50% as opposed to default (spring)

Winter: Snow starts falling and water will become frozen, unless there is a light source near it. Any oceans or rivers that aren't "warm" will be completely frozen as well. Crops will stop growing completely and mob spawning is significantly increased. Strays will also be able to spawn at night as well as zombies and will not burn in daylight. Only sheep can spawn in the winter as they have wool on their bodies to keep themselves warm.

You do know snow can happen in deserts right ;) although it's as rare as Mojang making a cave update (haha fUnNiEsT tHiNg EvErDLSJFOZERHLJ)

Anyways, Seasons are cool, but there should be a gamerule for anyone who does not want them.

Maybe instead of cold/hot biomes being excluded they could have their own changes.

Warm/dry biomes could rain rarely in autumn but regulatory in winter. Also in summer fire damage dealt to undead mobs by sunlight in dry biomes could be increased.

Cold biomes could begin to thaw out in summer and have constantly blizzards in winter.

Also similar to the mod, Serene Seasons, depending on what season it is crop growth could be affected.

There’s a simple compromise, simply have an option to make the whole world seasonal, if you say no than there’s just an autumnal forest biome

Each season could introduce there own mobs

Ex. Winter could Introduce “snow army”, a very rare raid of snow golems attacking the player.

That's a really good idea! Minecraft seems kinda repetitive right now and that would make the game fresh. We should be able to get seasonal blocks to that you can only get during a certain season (the blocks would be in creative if u wanted to build with it) For example, in fall, we should be able to shear trees that have turned red and orange and get leaves that you can only get during fall. This would have people who have beat some worlds in survival to go back and try to obtain these blocks!

The freezing water in the winter and melting snow in spring would be awesome.
