Hi !
We spend a lot of times in caves in minecraft but they didn't get any new or exiting features since a long time, that's why I think a cave update is due !
Some ideas :
- Caves biomes of diferent types of caves depending on the biome it's generated into, for example : Ice caves, bats infested caves, lava caves, etc
- Stalagmite and Stalagtite in caves, should be blocky, maybe like cobblestone walls
- More mushroms in thsoe caves?
- Mobs spawning only in caves?
There is a lot that could be done so that just some ideas, also the nether is a big caves, so it could be updated at the same time !

Maybe give the bats a purpose or a drop?
Related Idea:
Gravel "traps" generating on Cave Ceilings
Big clumps of gravel should sometimes generate on Cave ceilings, causing them to collapse on the player if you're not careful when mining.
Falling gravel is such a funny mechanic that I find it weird that it isn't really used in the game's cave generation.
Maybe you should add special mobs in different caves
Wait, you mean you're getting tired of seeing the same exact thing every time you go mining (you know, one of the two major parts of the game), with absolutely no features having been added to it (discounting ocean trenches and stuff like that) in like, seven years? Impossible!
Sorry for the sarcasm Mojang, but it's the only way I know how to effectively illustrate a point like this. I know you've been focused on adding other cool new features (ocean monuments, raids, treasure hunts, end cities), fixing bugs (e.g. accessibility issues similar to the one I reported on your JIRA recently), and planning future improvements, but biomes aren't the only thing that have gotten stale over the years, you know!edit: all that said, I would like to stress that I don't think we really need anything fancy like a complicated new mob on the caliber of phantoms. Just some tweaks like adding stalagmites/stalactites and maybe a rare underground mini biome or the like would do. I'm thinking something like the crystal cave showcased in ibxtoycat's video from a few years ago, but basically it just needs to be spiced up, not changed completely.
I well like it if I can
La de El Minero fantasma es Buena pero que te lleve a una snapshat (ocea Mina abandonada) pero que no puedas mostrar ninguna antorcha o si no te ataque y que hayan nuevos minerales
Pls add this in Bedrock too, pleeeeeeaaaaasssseeee
Gemstones or ancient runes for enchanting
Just do it
New ores, new blocks, new section in cave that is an in-game hint about nether portals
(:
cough cough terraria
I would like caves easier to get out and find loads of ore

What I think is that it would be good, the updating of the caves, because it can be useful since there are two types of blocks in Minecraft that cannot be used, (at present) that are the table of blacksmithing and the feathered table since more minerals can be added, and that can only be built on those work tables, so the updating of the caves would be very good and, that we could have a miner that can exchange us as minerals, weaponry, ect since we can find it only in the caves or mines but that that it was very rare to find and give expensive prices like the villagers but that can give more than other things and for that reason, I think it would be a great update and that they can add more mods stubborn and non-stubborn for better experience and one mini bosses to be more interesting that's why I vote for the update of the caves
¿what are they going to get in the cave update?
what are they going to get in the nether updat and
¿what are they going to get in the cave update?
I think there should be new ores like salt salt will be found in the water and you can make stuff salted but you get thirst when you eat it more ore like copper rubys nether gold and other but you can make armor out of it
I want bigger dungeons
It would be great to tell you: let's go to a cave, something like a construction, whether they only update the mines that are already there or make small abandoned villages between the land or something similary. It would also be great as what they say, epic treasure chests although that would not combine well with the theme of the game, since Minecraft is based more on the natural than on the fantasy.
I would like you to take in the cave update miners, spiders, mining skeletons, new minerals such as copper, platinum or silver, ruby ect ... in the caves that have cobwebs, mold, stalactites ect ... Finally, it would be nice to get a boss, spider or stone monster with all the minerals.
New caves maybe a challenge but I'm hoping we get new items to help explore it
Yes I love this idea, and also they should add stuff like Tungsten, Tin, Silver, Ruby, Sapphire, and all that stuff
"and more industrial machinery."Seria bueno.
I have read alot of great ideas in the comments adding to the Cave Update suggestion. I see many want things like natural formations, cave dwelling mobs and villages, news ores and tools and blocks, and even areas with higher difficulty levels. All are very exciting and could really spice up the underground after the Nether Update.
In addintion to the various suggestions for a more natural and unique cave envirionment i would like to propose cave paintings, broken pottery, arrow heads, and relics. With the upcoming Nether Update and the Villager and Pillager AI update it has brought a new sentient world into focus. I believe adding in the Native Ancenstor rarity could be similiar to that of the fossils found in deserts.
Lastly if a cave update indeed is in our future, I would love to see it as a Geology update, adding in minerals, metals, and natural formations and maybe a rare mob or two. Earth has its own natural layer system, and it could be really neat seeing some visual representaion of your elevation as you mine away the debris, this may just be to much to add. A new villager proffesion and job could also be created, The Geologist. Possibly a Jewler or something to trade your rubies with. The education edition could also benefit from this Geology Update.
I agree with the idea of making the geology more realistic. Currently the only distinguishing factors between elevations, besides the technical Y value, are "is there a lot of lava rivers" and "can strongholds spawn". It's really quite boring, honestly, and as I stated in my previous comment, hasn't changed in like, 7 years. So much has been added to the surface, oceans, and even The End, yet despite the game being MINEcraft, mining has been relatively unchanged. But I digress.
Back to your suggestion about geology, I seem to recall a Forge mod from 1.7 that did something to this effect. I forget the name of it but it was used as part of the Blightfall pack and added several new types of stone. Instead of just stone, diorite, stone, andesite, granite, stone (yes I said stone 3 times), and (as a lot of other mods have added) marble & basalt, there were some new ones and even a few completely alien types (fitting, considering that pack was set on an alien planet), all of which could be categorized into one of the three major types of rock that are arguably central to geology: metamorphic, igneous, and sedimentary. It really gave the environment a more natural, realistic feel to it.Edit: found the name! It was called Underground Biome Constructs, and added like 13 or so types of rock for each of the 3 categories
Redo the dungeons, make them more layered, kind of like a Zelda dungeon.
Hi! Just an idea I was thinking about. So maybe we can get temple like structures, that look old and broken. Inside holds valuable treasure, but... it is guarded by a golem or monster like creature!
