Holy cow this is an amazing idea for Minecraft for the Smithing table and fletching tables! This really should be added and/or considered.

I agree, something or a forge could be a cool addition to Minecraft. Alloying and Gilding is just an example of what could be added, developers could add something much simpler or complex.
