Just being able to open a shulker box without setting it down, taking the item out, mining it, picking it back up, etc.. would be amazing.  Right click in the air should just open the shulkerbox inventory.

For storage, the backpack would allow the player to have storage equivalent to a double chest. Have the backpacks either considered armor itself (with small variations of strengthened backpacks), or be able to attach the backpack (and possibly even the Elytra) to a piece of armour. Have the anvil be able to fuse them and a workblock like the toolsmith table able to seperate them.

I recommend it works like bundle and max to 5 stack

Backpacks should be more easier to obtain so that players who are still exploring the overworld can get them, the crafting recipe should be something like a chest surrounded with leather

I think backpacks should be in the game, at least for the early in-game days when you don't have shulker boxes yet, you could craft them with 3 wool, 1 chest and 1 string, and based on the color of the wool you get a different color, similar to leather armor with dyes

I think backpacks should actually increase the slots in your inventory (not like shulker boxes, but by making more slots).

Be able to utilize leather armor more and allow for attaching the newly announced bundles to either leather chest or legs, adding an increased inventory only while wearing that piece

    Here is my idea:

Rows of inventory controlled by entity data, default to hotbar and 1 or 2 rows.

Leather pants give an extra row, other leggings enchanted with pockets do as well.

Backpacks give an extra row.  When worn with a chest piece, reduces move speed.  Disables elytra. Can either be enchanted for more rows, or combined with shulker shells/boxes to give more rows, but shulker boxes can't go in these rows.

Ender backpack: doesn't have the drawbacks of the regular backpack. Crafted with a backpack, ender pearls or ender eyes, and endstone, and maybe a nether star.

It's just a great idea. It won't be unbalanced if they put on a lock or an elitist. It will give only 4 additional slots. I wrote it with the help of an interpreter, and I apologize for the mistakes.

Since we are getting bundles, I don't see any use for this feature, I don't think we need this feature... Sry :(

    Backpacks and sacks update:
Removing an armor slot for inventory space.
Backpacks would be made from broken elytras and add 2 rows of space in the inventory at the disadvantage of an unusable chestplate slot.
(I see this being 3 broken elytras along the bottom, a chest in the middle, and 4 leather on the top sides [there could be the option of replacing the chest with an enderchest to make a 2×4 (8 slots) accessible to your first 8 enderchest slots.]
    Backpack Enchantment ideas:
Heavy load (the durable items in your backpack slightly reduce damage taken at a cost to their durability)
Porta forge (adds a furnace that can only hold stacks of 16, speed increases with level of enchant)
Work bench (adds a crafting terminal to the players inventory)
Quiver (adds an arrow slot to the back pack)
[Maybe the backpack can only have 1 enchantment]

Sacks: easier to get being crafted with leather and rabbit hides.
Maybe have sacks be combinable +3 inventory slots for a max of 9, and they would replace the players leggings.
I can see these being a replacement for chests on lamas, mules, and horses. But possibly a bigger animal could hold more sacks.

It would be much more helpful to have backpacks in the game. Not to replace Shulker boxes, but have something like it. An everyday item

Definitely, this is getting ignored, because of the new item coming.... The Bundle.... Its a shame

With backpacks all storage problems would go away. It could be dyable and be made with either leather or rabbit hide or both. Only one backpack will fit in the slot so you can only extend the inventory once. This would make shulker boxes remain useful by not making bags OP. It would have its own slot dedicated for it. It could allow access to another inventory via an arrow next to the backpack slot. The backpack would accept every kind of block and item, including bundles and shulker boxes with items inside. This is why you can only use one backpack. This would help players early game. And at the end of the game you would be set having all three storage methods (bundles, bags shulkers) plus enderchests. This way you could use only one bag at a time so only shulker boxes could be used more than one at a time.

A backpack  that has leather as straps, string for the sewing inside it, and wool for the fabric. They could be like a chest and would go on your back. These backpacks could also look like a chest with straps.
