The way I see Backpacks is that it's one item that adds say 6 extra slots to the players inventory space, think 6 extra spots off to the right side. That is how I see it, 6 extra slots to the side, not like how most mods do it, the whole early game shulker box idea, no, more of just an extra few slots.

Honestly I think that this is a good idea for early game but maybe because it's a "backpack"it could go the players maybe that would seperate it from the shulker becauseit would go on your chestplate armor piece slot.

Bags/backpacks would be a great idea. Especially for the people who wouldn't want to go through the trouble of finding an end city just to get a shulker box. I think bags/backpacks should be made out of leather. It's way easier and a better way to organize your inventory when you're far from your base. I understand if bags were a thing in Minecraft then the need for chests would decrease. But if your chests are full and you don't want to take the time to organize all your items and make a storage room, then it's better just to have bags. They might not have the same capacity but once you get your things organized in Minecraft you feel a lot less overwhelmed.

    Consider this:

    Backpack

    • Crafted from eight (8) pieces of leather and one (1) chest
    • Supplies 9 inventory slots that are separate from your normal inventory
    • Slows movement speed by 10%
    • Can be dyed
    • Takes the place of your chest armor piece.

    Medium Backpack

    • Crafted from (Backpack), four (4) leather, and four (4) sticks (Kind of like an A-frame pack) (Backpack in center, leather N, S, E, and W, and sticks in the corners.)
    • Supplies 18 inventory slots
    • Slows movement speed by 20%
    • Can be dyed
    • Takes the place of your chest armor piece.

    Large Backpack

    • Crafted from (Medium Backpack), four (4) leather, and four (4) iron ingots. (Medium backpack in the center, leather N, S, E, and W, and iron ingots in the corners.)
    • Supplies 27 inventory slots
    • Slows movement speed by 30%
    • Can be dyed
    • Takes the place of your chest armor piece

None of the Backpacks would be enchantable, as they are all pretty useful as is.

When you unequip a backpack it would drop as a block if it has items in it and would act like a chest (albeit a potentially expensive chest.) You would not be able to place it into your inventory unless it was empty.

The intention is an early game aid to transport items, potentially found in dungeons where it would be most useful.

Maybe an alternative to a backpack could be a way to take stuff out of/put stuff in ender chests/shulker boxes without having to place them first?

Having to place an ender chest, grab a shulker box from it, then place that to get your stuff, to then mine the box and put it back in the ender chest to then mine THAT has always felt very awkward to me

or just make shulker boxes openable inside inventory/ hotabar, or make a new item called portable shulker box that can be crafted with 2 sticks, 1 shulker, 4 leather, 1 enderchest, and 1 diamond

                                              leather        diamond          leather

                                             leather        shulker box       leather

                                               stick          Enderchest        stick

I have different approach for that
So basically just increase Shulkerbox inventory size identical to doublechest size and add backpacks that has a single chest size

Having a backpack would be really fun because of the fact it's a bag it adds an additional amount of space in your bag would be like basically having two inventories that you only have onemakes the game a lot more easy to play when you have a lot more space because the soccer box is great and all but with all the ores you can upgrade the backpack over and over and it becomes even larger amount of storage or if you would upgrade it with all complete diamonds but the bag in the middle and it's rounding out with diamonds with eight now you have like a double chest backpack that's portable and you can access it by crouching or whatever and then with another ride he would add about maybe 10 extra slots like it would be a great idea to see this to be brought in Minecraft so many mods out there has made something like this but Minecraft never looked into it it'd be a dream to have

back packs i see it as a beggining game item (could be made with leather) and you only have one you can have on at the time and cannot store stuff in unused backpacks and shulker boxes are late game a so it wouldent really matter as  i see it backpacks would be cool

Most people are saying that this would remove the need for shulker boxes but what this could do is hold 6 inventory slots of space or so in this case people would have to get shulker boxes and have this item be early game

Seria mejor ya que cuesta encantar el pico mas aun cuando se necesita el transporte de las cosas como las armaduras, etc y tampoco te bajan los niveles de experiencia

A sholcker box is really hard to get and you get it at the end of the game and backpacks shouldn’t be as hard to get. That’s why there should be backpacks for more inventory space during the start of the game.

They should make backpacks have half the storage of a shulker and then have a special slot in the inventory, and then have another one that go's in your chestplate slot but has the storage of a chest and a half.

I'd love to see what percentile of players ever get their hands on a Shulker Box. I'm betting it's below 5%. Yes, we need Backpacks, yes, we need better inventory management solutions than just Bundles and Shulker Boxes.

    • Give us an inventory sorting button, please. At least for chests. Manual sorting is not an enjoyable player experience, especially with controllers, and "chest monsters" become a huge deterrent for me to keep playing in my worlds. I want to play your game, not organize everything constantly to get to playing it.
    • Lower the skill ceiling of automatic sorters by introducing a block to filter through items. Maybe grates allow items with sprites to flow through, but not items with 3D models (like block types).
    • Allow us to swap our hotbar with another row of our inventory with a hotkey or other.
    • Shulker Boxes should display the items they hold when hovering your cursor over them.
    • Shulker Boxes should inherit some of the functionality of Bundles (putting items inside without placing them down, for one).
    • Backpacks should act completely differently to Shulker Boxes, so that the later still seem attractive. Maybe they can only store up to 9 stacks, and only when equipped in the chestplate slot. When players get Elytras, Backpacks are then replaced by much better options.
