Whenever I play survival, It’s all good until I’ve ran out of inventory space. It’s really annoying. Shulker boxes are a thing yes, but the only way to get them is the end, if I’m just starting out a Minecraft world, there’s no way I can obtain that item so quickly. I suggest added a backpack that is functional, you’ll be able to place it down or put it on your character. It’s what I’ve needed for a while now.

I could see how this could be useful, but I don't support it. You see, the main arguement is that Early Game peeps need portable storage. My arguement is exactly that reason, Early-Game people wont be carrying stacks of supplies for building. By the time they do make mass farms or make multiple stacks of wood that are too much to carry, they probably have gotten diamonds by then. I feel this would be not exactly that useful in the long run.

We need backpacks for more storage on hand in stead of using shulker box’s that fill up our inventory backpacks won’t just be for storage they can also be cool collectable items with amazing prints and designs!!

I think backpacks should work like shulkers, and be simple to make (leather + whatever) . But they should have less storage space than shulkers and should not be able to put a backpack inside a backpack like you can with shulkers. That way theres a difference between the two and shulkers are still the better option for storage late game. But a backpack would aid the player early-mid game

I like the idea of a backpack in early game but with a smaller inventory space. Maybe 10 extra spaces. And it would be accessible from your normal inventory menu rather than separate like a chest.

Basically expand your regular inventory by a small amount. Perhaps different size backpacks depending on material. Maybe end game backpacks that require items from the end to double your regular inventory space. Leather backpacks could be 5 extra spaces.

Please mojang introduce backpacks and other things from the others (arrow quiver, portable beacon, portable crafting tables, ...)

Do it so that it has more armor slots in the inventory and so you can carry a backpack or an Elytra maybe also an arrow quiver (Giving infinit arrows) over armor and the backpack doubles the inventory

MacchuPicchu96 You have to go to the end for a shulker box. Backpacks should be something you could simply make with leather or something. And maybe you'd put it in a special slot and it would expand your inventory instead of having you place it down. Or maybe both?

I agree with most on the shulker boxes but if you had the backpack and maybe it was tied to a small special chest. Once your main inventory was full everything that would just be laying on the ground would go into the backpack but you can not pull anything back out. It would be sent to the chest something like an ender chest but the back pack is only a one way. And it takes a chest plate slot. Once the chest is full that's it you cant pick anything up until the chest it emptied out and only one backpack can be carried at a time. This would limit considerable but give a option to increase your inventory. That way skulker boxes keep their very useful purpose and still give a reason to want to get them

I think backpacks would be a really great addition. Of course that it would need to have only a few slots and to be destroyed once the player is dead. Its only purpose should be a cheap way for us to carry a few more items while mining or exploring. Also, I think it should be like the shield, having a proper slot. And it would not work like the shulker, it would actually add only a few more slots to the player inventory itself.

With so many treasures and items that can be found now, it is a must have. I often find myself with my inventory full and needing to choose what I need to throw away.

Backpacks will be a good thing for extra space and looks but you can just use a sholker box instead

Backpacks should only be implemented if shulker boxes get an upgrade for more storage. It could be as big as a double chest.

The Backpack itself should be upgradeable and starts with 9 slots. And goes up to 27.

To craft it we could use a new leather which hoglins could drop. So you need to go into the nether an fight a few hoglins to get it.

Yes! Yes! Yes! I was going to do this but didn't know how. I think I should be crafted by putting a chest in the middle with eight things of leather surrounding it. You can hold it in your off hand but it will not give you as much extra storage space. Or carry it on your back.( Sacrificing your chestplate.) You can not put a backpack inside a back and if you can eather place it down or put it in a chest. It is based on a shulker  box. But I think you can put a shulker box in a shulker box.

@ThornlessPort83 no they won't, because you can have a limit on how much a backpack can hold, shulker boxes are a late game item, if they were early game we wouldn't have the problem of inventory space anymore.

I think the best way to integrate backpacks into Minecraft is to make them an item that is found in dungeon chests. Similarly to saddles, they should be uncraftable and maybe a little more rare to find in chests than the saddle. Also fishable just with higher rarity. And they should replace the chest plate just like the elytra. They should have no more than 10 extra slots, maybe five. It is important to make sure not to make shulker boxes obsolete, so backpacks having only 10 or lower slots makes them extremely useful while not overshadowing shulker boxes. An interesting thought is making backpacks flammable, what I mean by that is when the player is wearing the backpack in their chest plate slot and is set on fire by lava or other means. Fire damage to the player makes backpack burning sound/animation play. Then the backpack loses its durability, once it goes below zero all of the stuff inside falls to the ground and the player has to find a new backpack. Maybe it is repairable with mending/phantom membranes, membranes because with mending they are basically entirely useless. What do you all think?

I kinda feel like if shulker boxes could be opened within the inventory GUI, that would fulfill the use case of having a backpack

I think backpacks would be bad addition to the game,  the reason being, that a part of what makes adventuring in Minecraft challenging is managing space. Taking that away would make completing the game way too easy, as you can quickly hold onto everything nessecary to complete every part of the game. We already have ender chests and Shulker boxes, which can be your backpack, but they're challenging to get, so that balances them out in a good way. I guess backpacks would be good way of making leather more useful, but I still think it'll be a bad idea to add them.

I think a sort of "utility pack" would suit the game well. Mojang keeps adding new places to explore, but not enough easy ways to bring utilities and storage with you. What if a backpack was crafted with 6 string, a chest, and two pieces of either: wool, leather, iron, gold, diamond, or netherite. The material used wouldn't increase storage, but rather armour value. It would be less than a regular chestplate, but more than the previous iteration of backpack (so wool offers no protection, leather:1/2, gold:1/2, iron:1, diamond:2, and Netherite:2 1/2 or 3). The backpacks will also change colour and shape, depending on the material.

The utility part of the pack comes with modifications. All packs (except wool; wool has 4) have 9 base slots for storage (1/3 of a chest). You have the choice to combine the backpack with any of the following: furnace, blast furnace, smoker, crafting table, brewing stand, cartography table, or composter. If you combine with these items, they keep all the functions they normally would have, and also get 4 storage spaces (from the backpack). You can only add tables to packs made with iron or better materials.

So, in summary, the utility pack would be cool, because you could keep a crafting table or a furnace with you at all times, as well as having 4 extra inventory spaces.

It would also be cool to have a option to upgrade the backpack. e.g you craft a "small backpack" or just a backpack where you can then upgrade them a bit more for some more slots

I haven't seen this posted: Add an 'armor' slot for it, and also please LIMIT BACKPACKS TO ONE PER PERSON

I can't stress this enough, mainly because if this wasn't a feature, there would be almost no use for shulker boxes

    Thanks Mojang!

with the addition of all the new blocks I think a backpack that can be accessed from your inventory is needed instead of placing down shulker boxes every time

I see this as actually a really cool early game item. To limit it to only 1 instead of as many as you can you have to equip it to where you elytra or chest plate would go. It will have half the storage of a chest but like in certain mods can be upgraded with certain materials. Another chest, 4 materials (iron, gold, diamond, tbd.), and 3 leather along with the backpack could be an interesting upgrade recipe. Levels can be balanced as they need but I think Diamond should have about double the storage of a regular chest. The original recipe being one chest and 8 leather around it should work well. Maybe make that the “base” and you have to craft 2 straps as well being either 2 or 3 leather on top of on another.

Backpacks would be a great more early game way to expand your inventory since not everyone likes to rush to the end game and get all the end game loot since that tends to make the enjoyment of playing die out fast since you've already beaten the game. Backpacks would make it great to have a few more item slots in the inventory.

I think the idea is great. Butttt.... as shulkers already exist I feel that there should be a, or SOME, shulker boxes included in the recipe... So that it's not early game such as leather and a chest(Some modded recipes include just that).

make it so that you can wear the backpack on your chest slot, so the max is 1 and not overpowered, and only usable in a few moments cus you need to sacrifice armor. But it made of leather or something easy early game makes it a viable thing to make in the early days. It is a real trade off, but at leasts it is possible to carry more stuff in the early days this way, if you are willing to sacrifice some armor protection.

The moment you get shulker boxes the need for them disappears. But it is nice to have something similar earlier in the game without it being overpowered/ endgame stuff.
