Yes! Owls! I think owls would be a GREAT addition to the game. I don't believe they could be tamed because they are wilder than parrots and should be independent. They should spawn at night too. Also in tundras, there should be a second variant which is a snow owl.

I think this would be great in Minecraft. Because the only birds are chickens and parrots. And I also think it would be fun if you could tame them and at night they can go out and bring you stuff like cats can do

Just the ability of delivering books is not very useful for players. Owls should have any other uses. I think that another use of Owls should be added. Owls may be able to kill Zombies for us like the Wolves maybe? The Owl would attack any Mob we attack or any Mob attacks us. And they should be hostile towards bats in Caves? Please update your post if my comment gave you any more ideas about the Owl. :)

I Love owls, and this idea is great! Another cool idea for this would be maybe hearing owls at night, like just as a sound effect. It would really be cool, so if the player don’t know that there is owls in the game, they will hear an owl at night an try to find it, owls can also be more common at night spawning more frequently in forests when it’s dark for example, maybe you’ll find one sitting in a tree etc. owls could also maybe kill smaller animals like rabbits and frogs, and then bring it to you if it’s tamed, this behavior is similar to a fox in the game. This type of detail could also be added to tamed cats, as they also hunt and like to show off their catch to their owners.

They spawn rate is higher during a night of full moon. Of course they can also rotate their heads and they are enemies to the Phantoms. Just imagine how seeing an aerial flight between two flying mobs in minecraft would be.

I would like to suggest that they would also have a perch for them to stand on with varying sizes. and help the player when they attack something

Owls are my favorite animal, so I'm especially drawn to this idea. I think owls should add some functional elements to the game, and be difficult to tame (not just half a stack of raw chicken). I think taming should be a multi-step process where the owl becomes passive, then favorable, then affable, then tamed. This would involve gifts of food and time spent with the owl on your shoulder, occasionally taking damage.

The main functionality that makes sense to me is that owls would be able to take a partially finished map and fly off and finish it, then returning it to the player. This would add a lot of QOL and make large mapping projects/ updates much more doable. It would fit with the owl theme of knowledge and makes sense with their ability to fly.

They could also bring the player gifts in the morning if they don't sleep (nocturnal), and they would naturally be aggressive to some animals.

They could help defend the player from phantoms by either scaring them or fighting them off. This would make sense since they would support nocturnal play.

It would be a great feature if they could grab nearby items and bring them to the player, but that's probably wishful thinking.

Another possible feature would be that owls have two nests or perches that they are familiar with and they have one inventory space, and upon being given something from the player they deliver it to their other nest or perch. This would be amazing, especially once the player has a fair amount of shulker boxes.

When untamed, it could attack bunnies, foxes and cats. They could be scared of tamed and untamed wolves, and will attack like tamed wolves. It can do extra damage in the night. Your left arm will stick out like a zombie and the owl will perch on it, unless you are wearing a shield or special glove. You need a special item to tame it, much like a licence in real life. They can also snatch swords, shovels, axes and armour off zombies and skeletons, having a 50% chance of giving it to you.

Signed books with player names along with items should be able to be sent. However, what I think would be cool is allowing exact coordinates to be given and they could fly to retrieve/ send items. This would be an epic way to use this mob with redstone. Say you want a shulker box sent to a hopper in a far off place. You could dispense a shulker box on the ground, then the instructions written as a book or a paper labeled with the coordinates could be dispensed as a way of telling the owl to fly. It would be fun to see the kind of intricate systems that could come from blending the different types of ways of sending items. This would allow for more versatility, but would cost a significant amount of time and resources to develop to keep it balanced. On severs mailrooms could be a fun way of interacting. This type of interaction between player and mob would encourage an entirely new behavior from the player; sustaining a system with friendly mobs. The owls wouldn’t be invulnerable so they would need protection from mobs. This could mean not sending your owl out at night so skeletons can’t shoot them, or giving your owl resistance and regeneration potions so that they can live to deliver messages. So many options come with this mob, redstone interface that would be totally new for the game without destroying any previous designs or concepts. It would bring life to item transportation and give precision to sending items without extremely resource costly systems. Give it a think.

If you wanted to send someone a message but they weren't online then the owl could deliver the book to the named recipients current set spawn (bed) in the current dimension somehow. If the named recipient didn't have a spawn point then some text would appear saying the owl doesn't have a way to deliver the book. This would reqiuire books to be made placable for my version of how this idea could work.

the owl you tame can also bring you various things like maps, meat etc. or splash you with random potions (but it can do this rarely so it isn't too op)

Perhaps they could have the ability of sending items to both players and storage blocks too? (when you want to send an item just click an owl with the name tag labelled as the player or chest/shulker you want to send something to). Makes it more useful than just a way to chat though I would love owls either way!

You should also be able to send invitations to villagers to come to stay and work at your place.

MMMM yo mas diría que los búhos pudieran domesticarse y que al domesticarse ,estos al ponerlos en tu hombro al dar click izquierdo  les darías una interacción en la que vuelen hacia arriba y que te detecten que mobs hay al tu alrededor

Owls would add so much atmosphere and mood into biomes! Something that Minecraft is lacking are birds and other flying creatures! Owls are so cute and adorable and it would be so cool if their eyes would glow in the dark!

Owls should also only spawn at night and hide in the day. Owls ARE nocturnal.

I don’t think owls should be tame-able, but I feel like they should scare creatures if they were leashed somewhere, (or perhaps the trust idea with foxes) kinda like how owls are used to keep birds away from jet engine turbines. Their eyes should glow and they could add to the ambience of night, and I’d love to have both a snowy and a “normal” version of the owl.
