Glow Squid and Glow Item Frames Feedback

Update: Glow squids and glow item frames have now released as part of Caves & Cliffs Part I.

The innocuous inkfish known as the Glow Squid has made its way to Bedrock this week in our latest Beta!

Glow Squid 

  • Glow squid do not spawn naturally in the world yet but can be spawned using a spawn egg  
  • When killed, glow squid will drop glow ink sacs 

Glow Item Frame 

  • Craft a glow item frame by combining a glow ink sac with an item frame in a crafting table. Any item in a glow item frame is perfectly illuminated, even at night!  

Other Changes 

  • Players can now use dye to colour sign text  
  • Use a glow ink sac on signs to make the text glow! 
  • Use a regular ink sac to remove the glow effect

    I think the glow squid's lights should turn on and off independent of other glow squid animations but they try to synchronize to glow squids near to them

    pls make it be  able to emit light onto blocks that would be awesome and pls make it do the hypnotizing effect that everybody expected

    Reading comments in this post I realized the wasted potential that this mob was, that is, I have some suggestions, I don't want to say that the mob is bad but it was the mob decided by the community, I should have at least more cool stuff: my first suggestion, the maps in a bright frame should shine, I'm not saying everything, but darker maps like the ones swamps, they are difficult to read; I had also read some projectiles and yes, it is true, but applying it to the blocks would be very difficult, I say that it is better to mobs or leather armor, and thus be able to go in the caves When you ran out of torches, obviously the lighting of your armor would be very minimal, plus it will not prevent them from generating mobs. I will conclude by saying that this would help the game a lot, the map because sometimes it is difficult to define everything well in one, and the armor thing would give the players those lamps that are requested without neglecting that it is not very technological, apart from that as a bonus it would give one more utility to the leather armor.

    Glow squid (and normal squid) in buckets to be similar to relatively small aquatic mobs.

    It would be very interesting if glow squid emit visible light in the dark (like Spiders)... It would make it quite different from the common squid.

    applying glow inc sacs to leather armor makes it glow in the dark

    I really hope they upgrade the Glow Squid in the Wild Update because it has such an unfathomable amount of potential and it's still not being shown. People have given so many concepts that would make the Glow Squid so much more useful that should already be in the game(I'm guessing that these were held back because of the Warden) such as:

    - Glowing Beds, Banners, Carpets, Glass, Wool, Sheep, and Leather Armor!

    See? The only things that I say shouldn't be added are the Glow Squid giving off light because Optifine exists and its sacs being used for night vision because there's already an ingredient for that(Note: carrots help your vision).

    can you make it so that the cant spawn in water that's only one block tall? they keep dying and its sad.

    The glow ink sac should create a "glowing potion" when brewed that gives players (or mobs splashed with it) the glowing effect that a spectral arrow gives. Additionally, this can be a new method to creating spectral arrows.

    You should be able to get other mobs from mob vote like copper golem

    For those who are still waiting for Mojang to give glowing blocks for the Glow Squid, you are a real one.

    It would be nice if the squid had more life, or something special, and that the luminous ink could be launched like an egg, and leave particles or something on the floor, or it could be mixed with other colors, and applied to fireworks to that they look like neon

    An idea that I think would really help Redstone Engineers would be to have Glow Ink Sacs used as underwater Redstone since light requires some form of reaction.

    Make them produce actual light. This would make them so much more interesting both visually and mechanically.
