I don’t think termites should be in the game...

    Hi,

I would say there should be a way to prevent this from happening (like the announced lightning bolt prevents lightning damages), in form of a meercat/ostrich presence, that will prevent more termites from coming to the area no matter where it is (you could hide the named meercat/ostrich underground), in your mesa/desert/savannah build, and it will prevent any infestations in a 3-5 chunk radius around the mob.

    I voted.

I am totally okay with whatever the termites do as long as they are consistently big like the other bugs in minecraft. I have this theory that they are super big because the minecraft world has a lot of oxygen, like that period in irl history when bugs were enormous. It's kind of stupid to be so emotionally attached to this, because it literally affects nothing, but I would like the termites to be big, at least silverfish size, if not cat size.

I think it would be a good idea, but it would be very frustrating needing to deal with the termites. In illagers houses (pillagers, witches, evokers, and vindicators) who is going to kill the termites?( for the illagers will be so difficult). So its a good idea but it needs more solutions 😊🤗(^U^)

For all of you who are angry about termites being added, this is what it is probably going to be like:

There are 2-5 block tall mounds. They are 2-4 blocks wide, and can spawn a termite mob. They are about the size of silver fish. They look for wood to eat. after finding 1-3 wood they go back to the colony. this happens every 20 minutes or so. There is a termite mound per 4-10 chunks.

Amazing how terrible this sounds, I really don’t want savannas ruined by something gross and annoying. This would go in the bin of “well I guess that area of the game is ruined” like how phantoms ruined playing at night and pillagers ruined living anywhere near a village.

meerkat groups should coordinate attacks on termites too. they should say when they are in pain by calling for help, saying if they see termites, and should only talk to ones from their group. and, be hostile to outsiders

I won’t want to play with termites, they sound like a waste of time for mojang to code it, so just NO TERMITES!!!

But um... does the termite do anything? Or is it just something that spawns in chunks with abnormal amounts of wood?

I don't think the game needs any more block destroyers, creepers are plenty. I would recommend using a species like the Pacific damp wood termite. They're one of the largest species and they feed on rotting wood and fungi. Might be a good mob for the mycelium biomes or dark oak. This species consists of nymphs, soldiers, and reproductives. Young termites act as the work force and molt as they grow like snakes and spiders. They mature either into a soldier to defend existing colony or an alate to start a new one. Their colonies never get larger than a few hundred and the size is regulated by available food and space. So they're population could be regulated that way in minecraft. The queens of this species don't get much bigger than the others, so you wouldn't have to add a 4 block long bug. In minecraft they should be used in a rare structure so that there isn't too many in game at once. Workers can be the size of bunnies and soldiers/reproductives the size of cats, queen just has slightly larger abdomen. All workers and soldiers are blind and aggressive and would behave similar to a warden. Kings and queens are passive and will flee, however they have eyes and will alert any nearby termites upon seeing you. Colony population should be about the same as village. The way villagers spawn cats and golems could be used as well. If a termite worker doesn't sense any soldiers or reproductives for awhile it will change into one. They can drop mushrooms, sticks, and queen drops eggs.

I like it as an idea, but as long as it doesn't happen too often: maybe there's like a 10/15% chance that it happens every 7-10 days on Minecraft, so as not to make these biomes completely unlivable (also because I like it a lot the savannah).

I think with any mob griefing, you should have the chance to pick up the blocks as items, like a creeper explosion. In this manner, a termite infesting wood would eventually drop the block as an item. With this, people can make awesome wood farms, and the lowly Termite would become sought after. A portion of the mound should be mineable and placeable, to transport this mob to a build. I like to make zoos or museums and would love to put one in it. I think they should be a kind of layer, like the glow lichen, with animated termites scuttling around. You could "break" it with a weapon or your hand. When they are on a block they can multiply to two other blocks once they have dropped the block as an item, growing exponentially, albeit slowly. Having the Meerkat or Ostrich factor into this would really round it out. Perhaps mining the mound will cause a Soldier to pop out and attack you, flying around, slightly smaller than a bee. These should be able to be nametagged so they can persist (imagine catching a bunch and putting them behind a closed redstone door and when theyre triggered to open a swarm comes out and bites a player). So really its two mobs in one. Could add a queen that makes grubs that you can use to make a new colony. Place the queen in a jar to transport it and collect grubs? Instead of mining a mound. I would like to see "dead" mounds too, as a decorative item. Would look good in builds with pointed dripstone.

What I would ultimately like to see from Termites: Let us be able to choose where mounds can go so we can build with them, let us collect a Termite mob like we can with Bees, and let them be renewable 🙏🏻

We already have enough destructive mobs (Creepers, Endermen, Ghasts, Silverfish)

We do not need any more

Just what minecraft needs. Another mob that does nothing, and doesn't benefit the game in the slightest.

I think you should have some ting like termites in a bottle so that you could trap them and release them (by breaking the bottle) some where else to do this you need to throw a slash potion of slowness and weakness on the termites then right click on the termites to trap them in a bottle

For the wildlife support for the termites they should add anteaters

Maybe add a setting to have the ability to disable termites 🤷‍♂️
