This sounds like it will be pointlessly frustrating to new players and pointlessly pointless to all players - kind of like lightning starting fires.

    Here’s my idea:

Termite block would work like bees. About 2-3 termites per block, The mounds would start with 3-5 blocks, and termites would eat wood and convert it into termite mound. Termite mound would spawn termites until it had spawned 2-3. That way, termites eat your house, aren’t excessive, and look cool.

I think termites should break your house yes I agree with the infestation part I think they should destroy a bit fast instead slofie every now and then you replace a block or kill a couple it’s to easy Minecraft survival even on hard is still fairly easy you should be able to disable them breaking your stuff but I also would like crawling to be added on bedrock like clicking the crouch button fast twice would be easy this is for the termite mounds it should have a hole in it you go in and crawl around maybe so you can’t cheat it it takes you to a different place when you enter you teleport to like a big block of dirt but anyway you crawl through the tunnels and find the king and queen and if you kill them you get like some stacks of wood and dirt I think meerkats should have a similar thing so you can crawl in there burrows sorry if it’s hard to understand sometimes my brain go to fast comment any questions or to clarify oh also to get rid of termites just like destroy not infected blocks around infected ones and burn or put some water to get rid of them

How are you supposed to build?!?!?! Adding termites is such a ridiculous idea! Imagine spending hours on building and then it gets destroyed by termites!

The termites would ruin a lot of people's work and would cause this games popularity to go down because your house is there and then it's not. So if think to stop the termites to go all wood crazy, they should have a gamerule that causes them to not break stuff, the switch should be accessible in game and shouldn't disable acivements. It shouldn't be mob greafing because you still want the game experience,(creppers, wither, enderman, ect breaking stuff) but you don't want non attack able, very small, hard to see bugs assassinating your house without being seen. But that's just my opinion. Sorry for the atocorrect, it changes the word even if it say it's spelled correctly.

I like the idea of wood eating termites, but more like bees than silverfish.

    1. It's a neutral mob

    2. They have a hive

    3. from which they forage out to get wood

4.which they convert into podzol, growing their hive

    5. creating a growing wasteland around it

    6. May fight hostile mobs in the area (and contribute to the neutral mob cap)

    7. May gather items other than wood back to the hive where they are stored.

This can be useful in various ways and brings the environment to life like bees do, but can be a nuisance that needs to be neutralized, very similar to a spawner.

In certain ways, termites could be made to do the players job for them.

As a pest control technician in real life I find this idea hilarious, I'd love to see it!

If bees are large in Minecraft, then maybe termites should be too.

I think they shouldn't be possible for them to climb up 2 blocks or go through cobblestone. This would make people have to make their houses safe. Also I think you should be able to super tame meerkats to make them your best friend forever

Please let there be a setting which you can turn the termites on and off :( Some players may not like it

Has anyone here seen Hermitcraft 7 with Iskall85's tree? If these are added, there has to be a cheap, non-ugly block to protect yourself from them

If a block was infested: Wood should get rotten and be destroyed very easily, it would also look ugly, and eventually turn back to dirt.

So...after looking through the comments...maybe there is a way to put...like...termite repellent in an area? Some sort of termite repelling thing, maybe when you place it it looks like a small rock sort of thing and emmits particles? I don't know, but people do make a good point...massive woody bases would become impossible. I don't think there should be any treasure in their mounds, people are complaining about the gold stuff in ruined portals, sticking diamonds in every termite mound around would make them either too rare a feature or too commen loot.

So main part is some sort of temite reppellent that will make termite run away in a 15 block radius, maybe it is like...soul soil and 3 stone makes 5 of these?

Okay and people are maybe right that just having a gamerule similar to insomnia gamerule could be useful

Personally hate this idea... I'm never one to bash ideas, and I'm probably going to get roasted for attacking this, and I would love to see termites, but... Man, guys, the animal AI in Minecraft is moronic. Meerkats/Ostriches can't be trusted to kill these things, because animals are notorious for offing themselves... Hardly anyone takes their cats and dogs out on adventures because 99% of the time they end up dead by either suffocation from glitching into walls, hurling themselves into lava, or drowning in a random pool of water because they won't get out of it. Animal AI is so bad it's a meme. They've literally meme'd this, guys.

Our creations are going to get obliterated by termites because you can't trust the animals in-game to do their jobs without dying in the process... :/
