Hey there! We're a Mac & Linux household, and we love the Java edition, and run our own server. But we'd also really like to enjoy the cross-platform play of the Bedrock engine. I'm sure it would also be really nice for you all not to have to maintain the Java codebase as well.
Or -- at least add cross-platform play to the Java Edition.

Soooo, PS4 can crossplay, but we can't on MacOS?!
C'mon...
I personally play Minecraft on my iPad. I use a controller to play and I would also like to use my macbook to play. Could you please make bedrock avalible on OSX?
I mean, it would be nice to not have to buy a new game basically.
I support the idea of having Bedrock Edition on Mac, I have tons of friends who play on Switch, iPhone, Xbox, etc. and am not able to play with them, and there's just some sort of beauty in Bedrock Edition that no matter what happens, Java Edition never has and never will be able to catch.

It’s so frustrating that I have to pay $100 plus dollars for a copy of Windows 10 just to run Minecraft Bedrock Edition on my Mac. It feels as if Mac users have been left behind.
Port Minecraft to Khronos's Vulkan Standard and you can have compatibility everywhere with few shims.
Can't add cross-platform Java-Bedrock play as Java and Bedrock have totally different frameworks. It could be possible but it would take way to much time.
I've been playing Minecraft for 2 years now and I really want to join my friends on the Bedrock versions of Minecraft and
would appreciate if I was able to download the Bedrock edition on mac.
I was looking forward to buying Minecraft to play with my friends who have PS4 and X-Box. But I have a Mac. So I was very discouraged when I realized there is no crossplay for people on a Mac with people on console. Please make a bedrock edition for people on a Mac so we could crossplay. Also, if you guys do make a Minecraft bedrock edition for Mac, can you guys make it free to download for the people who already have the java edition. This is very frustrating because now I don't know if I want to even get Minecraft or not. Please make this a reality.
People on YouTube have already figured out how to use the google play edition on Linux for cross platform play. The community can botch together a fix faster than you (Microsoft) I know you have heard and seen that we want Mac and Linux support - Make it happen. It's ridiculous that the game is on every platform EXCEPT the two that compete with you in the PC department. Cut the s**t Microsoft.
Near as I can tell this is the second most popular post on here aside from the Oculus thing, and it's not even under review. I'm trying to figure out what server to self-host right now and it's ridiculous that I can't support both people playing on Mac or people playing on iOS/Android. Either compatibility of Bedrock and Java protocols or Bedrock availability on Mac would resolve this. As a C++ developer, I'm pretty sure Bedrock on Mac should be the solution.

I prefer to play Minecraft with a mouse and keyboard. I recently switched over to mac, and would love to continue playing with my niece and nephew who play on bedrock edition. It’s such a hassle to dig up my old barely working laptop to play. Please add bedrock to Mac
I have a mac, but would like to play bedrock with friends in a realm. Thanks.
Bedrock on Linux absolutely needs to happen! So... make it happen! (please)

I have minecraft java on my mac and bedrock on my phone tablet and more. I really want bedrock to be for mac because iI'm not gonna install windows 10 on my mac again. Also I have had minecraft so where I install bedrock off the windows store for free using the code I got. I really hope you will consider getting to work on mac. Or if its already for mac please give me the download link
I'm on a Mac and I want to play with my friends who play Minecraft using iPad and Nintendo Switch.
Ios apps can easily be ported now, so this shouldn't be a difficult task.
I'm thoroughly disappointed to have gone through the trouble of setting up a server, with the hopes of having cross-play, only to find out the macOS version is the only one which can't.
I'm even more disappointed to see this post is from May of 2018, and a year and a half later N O T H I N G has changed.
Lol @ Microsoft devs.I'm totally baffled that there is still no Bedrock edition on macOS... Shouldn't it be easy to achieve as it already works with iOS? Now that there is Catalyst the iOS App could be released for macOS and we would be very happy :-)
I really think this is a necessity. Bedrock is my favorite flavor of minecraft and I can't find myself playing the java version much. When I'm using another system I miss my beloved game very much.
Considering how Apple has it's new initiative to make apps that run on iPad easier to port on Mac, I see no reason for Mojang to not have that. Making it cross buy on the Apple ecosystem just makes sense. Having Minecraft Bedrock work across iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV would be awesome. Linux should have Bedrock too, however in the case of both Mac and Linux, it should not be at the expense of Java Edition. I know far too many people who still play Java Edition because of it's Red Stone systems being different to that of Bedrock. I'd rather not see Java Edition go away either, and this is coming from someone who prefers Bedrock.
Just adding my vote to the chorus of those asking for a Mac OS version of Minecraft Bedrock. I think it's silly to be able to play Minecraft on my own Realm with my iPad, my iPhone, and my PC, but not on my main Macbook Pro. I've been resorting to dual booting just to be able to play Minecraft. That takes precious time away, and removes me from my main computing environment.
Hi, I really like both Minecraft Java and bedrock version, but sadly i have a macbook and all of my friends play on Minecraft bedrock. I would really appreciate it Mojane if you could port a version of Minecraft bedrock to mac os.
It is 2020 and I'm still hoping for a bedrock version on Mac. I play a realm on Xbox when I'm home, but at school I would love to be able to play on my realm with my Mac.
I would love to play with other platforms on my Mac. I hope there Is an update soon.
I have just gotten into Minecraft playing on a friends computer. I purchased Minecraft on iOS so I could play on my iPad and phone. I currently only have macOS and Linux computers in addition to my mobile devices. I highly prefer playing with a keyboard and mouse with my buddy but playing the java edition doesn’t appeal to me as the main draw to play is social and everyone I play with plays with Bedrock editions. I would much prefer playing on the computer and would easily pay a premium to be able to do so as I have firsthand experience porting software to new platforms and understand the effort involved.
I would also like to thank Mojang for supporting Linux on the (currently alpha) bedrock server. I’m sure that the amount of people wanting a server on Linux is higher than the amount of people that ask asking for macOS/Linux Bedrock clients so I can understand how priorities may not be on the client side but I will say even though our numbers may be few we would deeply appreciate it!
Honestly it's absurd that there isn't a Bedrock Edition for MacOS. At first I was led to believe that it was currently impossible, because MacOS Catalina dropped support for 32-bit applications, but then I installed Education Edition (which is essentially Bedrock x64) and it worked perfectly, without having to do any trickery. In the Application Support files, it's literally called "minecraftpe". This suggests that Bedrock is 100% possible in MacOS, and the engine already exists for it. Why Mojang still hasn't released a full version for MacOS is beyond me. Maybe it has something to do with losing Windows 10 customers. Either way, it's laughable and should be addressed soon.
This topic is a little stale, but perhaps there is more hope now with the new Mac Catalyst feature for macOS Catalina. Mojang may be able to port their iOS version quite easily, as long as it is already somewhat optimized for iPad.
Yes to Bedrock on the Mac Appstore, but I don’t think replacing the Java Edition is wanted or necessary.
I realize this post is stale, but I wanted to chime in with my support. I hate to roll a windows VM in order to host a private gaming server for my kids and their friends to play Minecraft at my house.
