I too would love to see Minecraft bedrock on Linux. I know that this should be easily possible for the Microsoft team. A group actually made something so that you can play the pocket edition on Linux and Mac.

Microsoft, you say you LOVE linux. I would love for you to actually stand by your words because at this stage you just LOVE to use Linux to benefit Microsoft..

I really hope this comes out, I have Linux and I have java, but for other people it also helps because on java its more laggy, but I really hope bedrock comes to linux because i currently play on my android tablet but its so laggy, and pvp isnt fair when youre on mobile vs a windows 10 user, its really annoying, so hopefully mojang adds this!

I have a ton of friends who use bedrock on their windows computer or on xbox and mobile, and I am really disappointed that I'm not able to play with them because I have Java. Please add crossplay between java or add bedrock to be playable!!

I really want this to happen my roommate plays all the time but it's stupid that only macOS is left out. I want to be able to have a Mac and still play a normal game with all of my friends.

Bedrock for other OS's should definitely be a thing! Although please do not listen to the "maintaining java" and "crossplay to java" parts, thats 1: a terrible idea and 2: practically impossible

Please port Bedrock to MacOS. There are some weird ways to do this now with the Android version so many ppl use that option.

It is strange because with the new Mac Catalyst feature available to developers in macOS Catalina you would think they would have ported it over from iPadOS/iOS on day one and made some money. It would have been an easy sell to me. Catalyst does 90% of the work.

Apple is releasing more tools allowing developers to easier convert their iOS apps into apps for Mac. This may mean that Minecraft Bedrock for mac isn't actually far around the corner.

"Maybe more important than any new features are developer tools Apple is releasing in order to make converting iOS apps to Mac apps a cinch."

Would like this also. Have a mac and PC in the house and friends on PC using bedrock. Would like to all play in the same worlds.

I'd be the first one who buys the Bedrock edition on OSX!

A trivial use case I have: one set of friends have Macs only, another set plays Minecraft on mobile devices, while I use Windows. Would love to play with those who have only OSX as they cannot have access to our worlds (shared between Windows and mobile platforms)

There should certainly be a Bedrock edition for these platforms, but in no way should Java be removed. It's the last version of Minecraft that's the easiest to mod/etc, and there are still millions that use this version. People can't just say they want to forget or get rid of Java for their own pleasure, because there are others, like me, who have spent tons of money on it, and we obviously very much enjoy the version. Furthermore, it's probably still the fastest version with the right graphics, and definitely the prettiest, especially with shaders, which you really can't get on Bedrock.

Apple has release MacOS Catalina in October who allows at the developper to import their apps coming from iPhone to the Mac more easier. Minecraft : Bedrock Edition is on Mobile, why not on Mac. I'm ready even I have to buy again the game.

Now that the Catalyst framework is available to all developers, Bedrock for macOS could be released almost immediately, as long as the Mac developer can push one button in Xcode.

you can learn more about Catalyst for Mac here: https://developer.apple.com/mac-catalyst/

Minecraft Bedrock Edition was just announced for the Playstation 4. At this point, I don't think there's any reason the Bedrock engine shouldn't be ported to Mac and Linux computers. If Microsoft can collaborate with their biggest rival in the console space, they can easily port their game to Mac and Linux.

I support the idea of having Bedrock Edition on Mac, I  have tons of friends who play on Switch, iPhone, Xbox, etc. and am not able to play with them, and there's just some sort of beauty in Bedrock Edition that no matter what happens, Java  Edition never has and never will be able to catch.
