I like this idea, but I also feel like it's already been implemented.

For example, one of the Armorer villager's trades is you paying him 15 coal so that he gives you 1 emerald. If you want to trade this way, you would need to mine for coal ore. It's almost like the Armorer gave you a quest to go mine coal for him so that he can keep his forges lit.

Another example is with the Cleric villager. The Cleric will give you 1 emerald if you give him 32 rotten flesh. If you want to complete that trade, you need to find and kill zombies. It's as if the cleric gave you a quest to go and hunt down zombies that have been menacing the village.

My main point is that many of the villager's trades can be interpreted as quests. Now, I know that the above trades aren't that much of a quest if you already have a lot of rotten flesh or coal stockpiled. However, it makes more economic sense for the villagers to just take your goods then to send you on a quest for supplies you already have. The Armorer needs his coal right away, and it doesn't matter where it came from. If you have already killed a lot of zombies, the Cleric will give you emeralds as a way of saying thanks.

I really like this idea, but maybe instead of adventures the wandering trader will have quests for you to do, and as you do more the quests get harder! So then after you do, say 5, quests, he had no more and you have to wait a few minecraft days. Also, when you have quests, there is something on the side of the screen, like the effects menu, that tells you all of your current quests, but there is a button beside each quest that lets you cancel it. A quest be like: travel 10,000 blocks and you get xp and rewards!

yea they could give you a map for example with a red cross. you need to find a chest and deliver the items or keep them. if you deliver it they will pay you and your image gets better and you get a small sale in all villages. if you dont deliver the items and keep them for yourself you obvs dont get payed and your image gets worse. so your villager trades get more expensive. i think villager quests could have much potential. they could give you coords and you need to make a map for them at this spot.

the villager image thing seems complex but it should be done very simple with like 5 levels like very bad, bad, defaulr, good, very good

another cool villager thing could be selling so you can sell items to villagers

I like this because it makes villagers have more personality and they become more like npc's not slaves to trap in boxes and constantly trade w/, also the nitwit should have dumb quests too like fetch me a rabbit, or get one flower or something easy like that

You would have to give the items to the villager unless it benefits the village. Otherwise, it's just free EXP. Ex: How would a weaponsmith benefit from you mining ores unless you give it to him?

YES! I know other video games with npcs that give quests, and they really give the game more fun and purpose.

This idea doesn't feel very Minecrafty. One of the things I love about Minecraft is that there is little structure. If these "quests" were added, the game might become about finding things to level up. Also, villagers kind of already do this. For example, when you trade rotten flesh with a cleric, in a way he is sending you on a quest to kill zombies.

I really like this idea, partly because I think it could really help new players figure out game mechanics that generally require Google for new players. Someone might have mentioned this already, but what if the villager quests were like this?

    Priest quest tree:

    -Make a portal

-Collect ingredients like blaze rods and nether warts

-Make a brewing stand and brew potions

*Reward is a couple of potions, emeralds, and a couple of levels of experience*

    Librarian:

    -Make an enchanting table

    -Gather bookshelves for the table

    -Enchant an item

*Reward is a rare enchanted book, emeralds, and a couple experience levels*

There could also be quests about farm-building , killing monsters, exploring rare structures, and mining. maybe even curing a zombie villager. Especially since villages are common and often sought out by beginning players, this could be the perfect way to introduce new mechanics.

I've always thought the obscure mechanics like enchanting and things like that were some of the weaker aspects of Minecraft, and I feel like villager quests could be the thing to fix that.

We really need new mini-bosses, wither is nice and scary but not enough to the story and just simply inst enough. we need something like atleast 3 mini-bosses with different possible story-lines for us fiction lovers.

Also, Villagers should be able to deal some damage. Like, if they have a sword or something in their inventory, theyd use it. The Idea with the Adventurers is very cool, but if they die, they should respawn in their Bed and try to grab his stuff back. And of course the player should be able to steal his stuff, so he has to get a new armor or sword. A Leveling System would be cool for the Adventurers. Or if you befriend an Adventurer, theyll start following you. And be a Companion.

Larger Villages would be nice. More Detailed houses. And better Biomes in General.

I like this idea. The game doesn’t seem to have much progression after the initial few days. Give players more of a motivation to explore and kill mobs other than getting drops. But maybe integrate it as more of a structure like the mod bountiful, it adds a simple block which lists quests available in the village that you can accept and submit. Or if you wanted to go more Advanced you could add a whole new structure, the guild, which has a full-time villager posting quests
