Emerald armor wouldn't add anything of value to the game. It would either be just a cheap version of diamond or a pointless armor set. A better idea would to be able to add gold or emeralds to any type of armor in the smithing table. Adding gold would make piglins non-hostile and emerald would give better trades for villagers.

I think emerald should perform admirably better than diamond even, but have poor durability, perhaps south of iron equipment stats. What I mean by this is that emerald tools are fast, as fast as gold, but they either break faster or are simply less durable. This goes for attack speed as well; emerald tools and weapons swing quickly and deal lots of damage, but you could be very at risk of breaking them in prolonged combat, especially without unbreaking.

Perhaps wearing emerald armor could have a similar effect on villagers as piglins, not in that the villagers will cease to attack you (because they don't attack), but that they give you a discount because you are seen as a wealthy patron of their offers. Maybe that effect stacks the more armor you wear / items you hold. With poor durability in mind, perhaps emerald provides less protection than iron, but is more easily enchanted, on par with golden armor or even being able to host multiple protection enchantments (up to 2?) to increase situational abilities.

Because emeralds are typically associated with a spiritual clarity of mind, maybe emerald armors can have exclusive enchantments that allow the player to see where mobs can spawn, or provide a mild spectral effect to hostiles within range (including other players when in multiplayer), or even enchantments that increase the gamma factor of the player's vision, allowing them to see ores and monsters in the dark

Interesting idea, (even though it's a bit unoriginal because there's an emerald mod) but emeralds are so rare. Not to mention that emeralds are softer than diamonds.

This is a good idea, And it should be at least as good as iron or a little better

I think it is bad because emeralds are for trading.

I think that emerald armor would be cool and of course I would love a green toolset, but I think just adding another mid to high-tier armor set to the game wouldn’t be a good idea. However, with the new functionality of gold armor being added to the game in 1.16 we are seeing an armor set that was mostly unused given functionality, which is something I think could totally be translated to a new emerald armor set. Here’s what I’m thinking. Maybe emerald armor could get you better trades with villagers. And maybe emerald tools would give you more experience when using them, so if you wanted experience it would be good to use the emerald tools. I feel like this would make it more interesting. I’m voting on this idea either way because I really really want it in the game but this might give some ideas to the developers :)

I think it should be on the same level as around iron or gold for the tier list. Emeralds are pretty hard IRL if we’re using the same logic that diamonds are hard.

I think it should be just like diamond but with the enchantability of gold

I really like this idea. Maybe the armour and tools could be a lot stronger than diamond armour and tools.

This feature is in many mods and I'm pretty sure original Minecraft! I'd like it if they weren't to OP

This shouldn't be added to the games
emeralds are a form of currency above all else. It also wouldn't fit with the step by step progression system of the game
With tools, the first oness you get are wooden, then stone, then iron, then diamond and the netherite. Gold, while it used to be useless, now kind of has a purpose with piglins in the nether (although that only applies to armour). Large villager trading systems are usually created after or just before the player has gotten full diamond gear. If emerald gear was on a level below diamond, it would never be used, because most players would already have diamond gear. If it was above diamond, then it would be too op because it is easy to amass stacks upon stacks of the stuff from trading with villagers.
It might also set a precedent for giving more ores armour and tools. Redstone, Lapis, Coal and Quartz gear aren't being asked for, so why should emerald be?
Overall this would be a pointless and unbalanced addition to the game. In my opinion.

I like this idea but I think it should be a little bit better than diamond. Maybe providing 25 armour points and getting a buff for having a full set of emerald. If they do it this, they should make emeralds harder to get

That would be very useless as iron is far more common than emeralds, and iron tools/weapons/armor would be stronger.

I dont think that we need another type of armor/tool set. Also, emeralds are the minecraft currency . That would be like making a chestplate out of a dollar bill(or any paper currency). But thanks for the idea!

No, We already have 6 tiers, no need for a 7th.

This would not be a good feature because getting emeralds is so easy, and you get them from villagers with like 6 pumpkins

There are enough tool and armor tiers, I don’t think another one would benefit the game

I like the idea of bringing in new gear but emeralds are so easy to get with the village and pillage update so maybe have them as a way to get better enchants but if you don't enchant them there in between iron and diamond

a good idea but the person who say's "THE EMERALD WAS RARE THAN DIAMOND AND THEN IT'S POWERFUL" but now the new entry was netherite can be the emerald a simply human ore better than a infernal ore?

and can be in the middle of diamond and netherite but not better than netherite and better than diamond

Probably not item, my idea is that wearing emerald armor gives you discounts on villager trades (kinda like villager trades)

No strength should be between diamond and netherite because you need iron to mine it

Not sure if damage, damage protection and durability that low for emerald armor would be fair. I think that emerald tools should deal damage between iron and diamond. My reasoning? Since emerald ore is quite rarer than diamond ore and it's a gem like diamond, emerald armor's damage protection and emerald tools' damage dealing should be high but emeralds can be traded for and found easily in loot chests, so making the durability very low like leather would create balance with the armor having 0 armor toughness. A full set of iron armor will absorb 60% (15 defence pts.) of damage and a full set of diamond armor will absorb 80% (20 defence pts.) of damage so emerald armor should absorb 70% with armor points in between diamond and iron, around 17 armor defence points. An iron sword does 6 damage and a diamond sword does 7 so an emerald sword should do 6.5 damage with the other tools having the same rule, damage and speed in between iron and diamond.

I don’t really like this idea because emeralds have a different use. They are villager currency. Personally, I like what they did with netherite, and that should stay for about a year, then another tier of armor. I don’t think this new tier should be emerald, though. It should go along with either a new dimension or a new metal/ore/block (maybe a fictional material). Minecraft needs 2 things right now: a new dimension and a new boss.
