Not sure why this is still missing. Having to quit every time something else requires attention is very annoying.

1 time i minimized my game for 4 hours and after that the game glitched out, the sun and the moon started going too fast, all the mobs whore running and i wasn't able to even exit the world!!
I agree in the versions java and legacy whit only pushing the pause button the entire game will pause but in bedrock when you push the pause button the game wouldn't pause mojang needs to put this option on bedrock
January 6th year 2021 Almost three years since the original post and an official response from the team who were supposedly making it a priority and yet no sign of a pause button that actuador pauses the game. All hope lost
Okay, Mojang. It's been 3 years and we still can't pause the game. Do y'all have any idea how stressful it is being unable to literally never walk away from this game even to pee, because something's going to kill you? I constantly have to quit the world for 2 minute breaks, then come back and wait forever for it to reload all over again, just because Bedrock isn't given the same basic functionality as Java.
What gives?Well, looks like I am stuck playing Legacy Xbox One Edition forever (or perhaps I should just give up playing altogether) and missing out on all of Bedrock's features and improvements; simply because this VITAL, GAME-BREAKING FUNCTIONALITY is never going to be implemented. If I had payed MONEY for Bedrock Edition, rather than acquiring it via a trial of Game Pass, I would be absolutely pissed!
You know, this is especially bad since Bedrock is actually Pocket Edition. Like, you can't pause when playing on your phone?? What the actual heck???? What kind of mobile game doesn't let you pause??? This is legit sooooo annoying and it's still not a thing! Like just how?? how???? HOW!?!?!?!?!?!!? Sooo... In the Caves and Cliffs update then? Maybe??? Hopefully???? Like, it's just a pause button!! In a game where it's dangerous to go afk, just let us pause! Heck, to get around this I dig myself into a hole and block it off, but even then that's bad because time still passes, so that means your just burning daylight being idle still. I don't know how you overlook something like that...
2018 guys, 2018 this was posted. They probably don't care and would rather focus on how they can make more money with their microtransactions.
You can die because of it and it doesn't even pause if multiplayer is disabled
Why is it so unfair? Java Edition gets every cool features that people want but Bedrock Edition can't even get one, take the off-hand feature for example, on Java Edition people can literally carry anything in their off-hand and it helps the game a lot but on Bedrock Edition there are less than 10 items that people can be able to carry in their off-hand. Is it because PCs/Computers cost more than Phones/Tablets? Don't get confused, I don't want Bedrock Edition to have everything that Java has because that will make Bedrock Edition not special but please can you make Bedrock Edition even just a little bit better?
At the very least, an explanation / statement / sentence on why we will seemingly never get the ability to pause the game would be greatly appreciated.
Are there technical limitations inhibiting progress? Has there been any sort of effort made towards implementing this 'feature'? Considering it's been several years since this was posted, we would just like to know if we should give up hope or not.

this post was almost THREE YEARS AGO and they still have not added this! i am so mad i want to scream dude the icon is a PAUSE BUTTON yet it doesn't PAUSE??
I don't play games that don't have pause because it would be just rude if someone asks me to help out and I have to say hang on while I do all this other stuff on the game. Are the developers snobs and don't like helping others?
Just bought minecraft on switch. If I had known pause is missing, I wouldn't have bought the game. :(
All this time I thought going to the ps4 menu would pause it, im literally one trophy away from platinum, the ender dragon, I spent 2 days prepping for the fight, 3 stacks of arrows, diamond gear, potions, everything, plus the closest stronghold is nearly 5000 blocks away. I get to the end and immediately get a phone call I had to take, pressed the menu button, came back....you died. I was so angry and I dont even know if I want the stupid platinum, lot of work gone because of lack of a very simple feature.
I agree with this. Every time I play and have to "pause" I have to save and quit just because it does not pause and if I leave it on while putting the character somewhere safe and come back to the game, the game is blank while showing me what all he mobs would do if I was playing. It would also start glitching a lot. Please add the ability to pause in bedrock single player.
YES I'm always annoyed because what if my mom needs me to do the dishes and I'm in the middle of a wither battle?(never gonna happen because let's be honest: I am a noob)I can't actually pause the game. So YESSSSSSSSSSSSS
Now it's been a little over 3 full years. Soon to release a boost in world height/depth generation, but uh still no pausing. Yep
Happy Birthday!!! Today completes 3 years that this feature was first requested by the community and we are still waiting. Apparently, it is easier to create new mobs and AI for them than add this feature (actually bring back, because it already existed in other editions). It is a shame.

Me too! Some of those diapers could kill and a pause button would really help.
