Not being able to pause when playing Single Player with Multiplayer disabled is an absolute joke.

I'll be going back to Java edition until this is resolved.

I play Minecraft with my boys, one of whom isn't always well, so where we use to be able to pause, now we can't. This is acceptable for online only games, but not Minecraft. Please bring back a mature approach to gaming, so adults and families can play.

we need pausing! I feel ripped off! I loved minecraft on pc but got too busy to play it, then i got a switch years later and now that i have my switch i like to play it in short sessions, But i feel like i cant play minecraft cous i put it away often and when you can't pause it feels so useless. The whole reason i got a switch was to play on the go and wip out the switch to put in a short session. Timed my game save. . . took 62 secconds to save my game. .. Rough. That is not a great way to pause a game.

We shouldn't have to ask. We shouldn't have to complain and spam your feed just so you can implement a basic video game function to an alternate version of a game that has that basic function. People only want to disable autosave so that they retain what they lost from not being able to pause

I just bought Minecraft for Switch, and created my current world specifically with multiplayer disabled, and found out the hard way that it's not a function in the game.  Buyer beware, I guess, but I never thought I'd have to search "can I pause in Minecraft on Switch?"  I assumed I could, because why wouldn't I be able to?

Checked to see if there was a post about it, and here it is.  From almost a year ago, with comments as recent as this month.  Why is there no pause function for offline worlds yet?  How has this issue been around since launch without being addressed?

It's not even possible to toggle multiplayer on when in-game, an offline world stays offline unless you quit out and change its settings, so there's no confict.  Minecraft has been around and in development for long enough that surely pausing is achievable.  This really needs to be added, its absence is ridiculous.

Was excited to play Minecraft on switch, but without a pause button I'm simply not going to play it, it's so simple but so important, please fix

I'm feeling very ripped off - paying for this game and finding out it's broken (not being able to pause cannot be defined any other way) just totally sucks. Is there ANY official word that they're continuing to work on this? Or did we just get screwed?

It's so frustrating that this is yet to be implemented, it's borderline gamebreaking

Fact of the matter is, I stopped playing Minecraft because of this lack of pausing. It's damn near impossible for me to relax, and have a chill time, as is the exact purpose of me booting up Minecraft, if I can't pause the action when I need to. I'm constantly in a tense state of 'I need to be able to get to a place I can hide and not have enemies spawn near me' just so I can do something like adjust my chair and check a discord message.

Your game makes me uncomfortable. That's not a good thing.

I come back to this issue over a year later.
    YOU'VE
    DONE
    NOTHING.

I'm sorry. I want to play the newer updates of your game. But until you can actually get the programmers to do something about this, I'm questioning why I bother with your feedback site.

I feel this was a wasted purchase without a pause feature. I bought this for switch to be able to pick it up and play whenever, but I refuse to do this without a simple pause feature. So much wasted time dying due to a phone call or having to put the switch down for a minute

Could we get some sort of update on this? I just bought the game assuming an essential feature to singleplayer games would already be in a game that has it for EVERY OTHER VERSION. We should have had this when bedrock first came out instead of being told it'll be prioritized a year ago with no actual evidence that it will be.

I find it unbelievably hilarious that a dev sarcastically linked a tweet saying they "prioritized" this and here the thread is over a year old and still unresolved. Friend told me it's a "better" version, but m'kay.

I was fighting a witch, my controller died and it was still going, then the witch poisoned me and killed me. I lost all of my diamond stuff and I was off of my map nowhere near my house and it was the first time i've ever been to the place. And now I have mine all of the diamonds again. They should really add this to the game so that people don't die just because their controller dies😡

I've started playing less and less ever since this became an issue until I just stopped playing altogether. I wanna play, but saving and quitting every time I need to get up is ridiculous. I can understand no pausing in multiplayer, but not being able to in single player is insane.

Just dig a hole and get in. That's what I do. It would be nice to be able to pause the game but there are ways around it.
And with only 571 votes to add pause..... It mustn't be a major problem.

How is this still not implemented? It's just so frustrating, I feel like I've been robbed. Life can be hectic, I don't always have time to dig a hole to hide in, nor should I have to. It's just laziness on the part of the dev team. I haven't played this game since the first week I got it, even though I'd like to, and GameStop wouldn't take it back. Wish I hadn't wasted my money.

Another user chiming in with the same aggravation that has festered into resentment toward Mojang over a year of limited play. I do not want hours or days of effort wiped because I didn't save and exit my single-player game to deal with a quick real-world distraction.

Honestly it's slightly upsetting to have such a seemingly essential feature neglected for so long. The Minecraft team has been pretty good at listening to the community lately, but this is very disappointing.

Almost exactly one year ago Aubrey commented on this issue and said it's one of their top priorities and that our voice on this site matters. Well, a year passed and I don't see it being implemented in any way shape or form, or this issue being addressed beyond one little tweet.
