it should start generating at Y=30 very very rare, then get more common, filling the environment by Y=-30 This would keep the size of the grimstone layer, while not being too sudden.

the flint & steel should take extra damage, or the ice should have a chance to light on fire instead.

dry grass & regular grass could be separate items, one being older grass in hot biomes, the other just being grass. Also, I like the fire mechanic idea, it ads a little aspect of fire safety beyond...

Maybe just a thinner iron golem made of packed ice? It should not have both melee and ranged attacks.

A pot's inventory could work like an expanded bundle (a limit of 1 1/2 stacks?)

also, temporarily marks players with a specific color. It would be fun to organize a "Paintball" tournament with these.
