@K.M. you mistranslated, every time it says "scaffolding" or "footrest" it's supposed to be "pressure plate"  발판 = "foot" + "board/plate"

Maybe by using sponges, they don't get used much unless you build in oceans a lot.  The logic could be the sponge is scrubbing away the copper patina and revealing the unoxidized copper underneath.

I can already tell this would be divisive, but I like this idea. Stone already has so much uses, and copper by comparison barely has any. (and like you said indirectly giving wood tools more use)
