If you don't like them, don't use them.  If it "ruins" the simplicity of the game, good!  Minecraft isn't supposed to be simple.  The more content, the better!

I've been looking for a server, and whenever I see one that I think looks interesting, I go to its website.  It it advertises "land claim", however, I immediately click the X button without looking...

Slimes already spawn in swamps.  This biome would be redundant.

Because lava buckets can smelt 100 items.  If you could make an infinite lava source, you would never need to worry about fuel again.  Besides, you can get tons of lava from the nether.

Before I read this, I actually thought you did spawn in the morning.  Choosing when you spawn would make an excellent world generation option.  Voted.
