I like the concept of adding a sky dimension, but I think it should be substantially different in terms of terrain and overall feel compared to any existing dimension.

Or add support for a few select mods (Including the Aether mod) on Bedrock. It’d probably be a lot better than ripping off the Aether mod. Just have buying mods work like buying anything else in the shops on Bedrock edition.

I really like this Idea, and think it would add lots to the game!

But I think that if they add too many crazy new mobs and ores etc. It would feel a bit too much like a mod - which is not necessarily a bad thing - but I think that Mojang would have to be very careful not to make it feel too 'un-vanilla-ish'. But I think that if done well, this could add a lot of depth to the game.

And I think that before they add a new dimension to the game, Mojang really need to flesh out the Nether and the End, and give players more reasons to keep coming back.

But still, it would be absolutely fantastic to see a Sky Dimension in Minecraft, Love this idea!

That would be cool. there would be a special portal that leads to the Skyland. And you wont take fall damage from falling off them

*if you fall off the island instead of dying you just straight up die

i think the portal should be a lit but exposed Beacon WHILE wearing Elytra WHILE under the effects of JumpBoost and/or Slow falling. This way, the Sky Lands would be a more Late game dimension (although i feel the Elytra should become craftable w/ enchanted variants being found in End ships instead. Reason being that the End should still be just that. The END. The final challenge). But at least this way, you'd still have to at least take down a wither before being able to witness, firsthand, the majestic scenery that is, for all intents and purposes, Heaven...

I've been around since Minecraft Beta 1.6. Surely I wasn't the only one disappointed when the End replaced the sky dimension instead of being its own thing. We can and should have both.

@ThornlessPort83 it’s what they did with pistons.

Perhaps this could be combined with the idea for a mythical forest, which would give a new dimension with fairies, dragons, mushroom houses, mythical forests, etc, all on floating islands

Perhaps you could call it Asphodel or Elysium,  like the kingdoms of the dead in greek mythology?

You should work with the aether creators, or make a completely different version-that way you're not stealing any creations

Cool idea. But to point out, the elder guardian is not a boss.

How about a "Mystic" dimension? Themed around mysterious, mythical and fairytale like biomes. I imagine this to be simillar to the End Islands, only bigger so entire biomes can fill these floating islands.

    - Green floating islands, like in Avatar or in Biome Bundle
    - Floating Forest, with elves, fireflies, witches (possibly the only Overworld mob or variant)
    - Webbed cliffs, barren lands like a mesa with cliffs that is infested with cobwebs and spiders
    - Enchanted Forest, with illuminating plants in the night,
    - Dark Wastelands, barren, desert-like where the sun is always blocked due to ash or some type of fog
    - Crystal Mountains (+Caves), with a block like Prismarine, slightly changing color and are on top of really high mountains that are valuable like Emerald for trading
    - Goblin Cavern, could be a cave underneath. Goblin mobs, fast but not very deadly but come in great numbers and will call others if attacked
    - Poisined lands, a sort of swamp where the water is poisonous (will be a potion to withstand it) and will have amfibient mobs
    - The Cliffs of Sight, gigantic vertical mountains with structures inside the vertical side (like a monestary) with snipers that can shoot arrows 50-60 blocks away (with of course no 100% accuracy as a skeleton).

I could go on, you get the idea. A dimension in this direction where you could add lots of lore like having guards of specific places or having mythical mobs is I think the best thing for a new adventure.

your thinking of the Aether. Mojang needs to partner with glided games and instead of releasing a sequel to the mod they add it in Minecraft. I'd rather it be a final dimension and not one you can access before beating the ender dragon.

There should be a village type thing there but instead of villagers there are NPC's that look like players like the skins from MInecraft education edition. Also the villages would be more advanced and have tamed animals.

Well, the Aether mod was inspired by an actual old dimension that didn't work out because the lighting effects lagged the crap out of computers. If they revisited the idea and finished what they started long ago it would be really cool.

The End is not the sky. It is an endless void full of nothingness. Pretty much why it has its name.

I don't really like the idea.

We need a sky biome (which you can access by flying very high), not a sky dimension.

A biome that is at random places (like all biomes) placed at random heights above the others

maybe but i think a sky land would be better if you had a 1/100 chance of going there when you went to sleep and you would have to sleep again to get back and then we you slept in the sky dimension you would return at your bed/bed spawn

That initially was going to be a feature but was removed due to generation problems and was replaced with the nether.  The Nether has brought Minecraft a long way, but it would have been nice to have a sky biome.

I think it's a good idea, but try to make it different to the end. I am intrigued, and would like more detail.

They should just add in the Aether mod and put the Aether mod's creator in the "Additional Programming" section of the credits, just like what they did to pistons.
