There can also be small icicles that grow on your house in snowy biomes

@PepsiFa Respectfully disagree. First of all, Icicles would not harm the game unless they removed dripstone, which is very unlikely. Second, you say Minecraft should be block-building game but not just pixels, but... Why? Blocks like Campfires and Stairs and etc are what make builds look good. I don't understand why we would want to take those away just so Minecraft would be "blocky." There just isn't enough good reason for it. If you "Zoom Out," Icicles would add great variety to snowy-themed builds and improve the quality of 1.17 ice caves, which would be a good addition to the game.

Sorry, @DarkstalkerMoon, that’s not what I meant. I just find that the stalactites/icicle designs don’t look that minecrafty. I like everything else. It would be impossible to not like everything in Minecraft 1.16 at least and 1.17 will be even cooler. But you can disagree, all that I am writing here is just in opinion. (I’m not quite a fan of the dripstone either, but it’s really just a small detail in  Minecraft.)

They could even deal the cold damage that powdered snow does if you're hit with them!

PepsiFa The 2D sprites are already in the game with things like mushrooms, berry bushes, grass, just small detail blocks (like dripstone)

Have you actually played on the Java Snapshots yet? Because at first i didnt like the dripstone textures either but once i played on them I actually preferred them over the 3D alternative.

Maybe they could work like Mario icicles were if you were under the icicle it would fall and when they land they break into shards and maybe the deal damage unless the player is wearing a helmet with projectile protection.

It sounds like a good idea, here's my thoughts: There could be a variant of the dripstone caves like icy dripstone or something like that.  Maybe too there could be occasional icicles generating on houses in villages and even your base or anything you build.

I agree with this, but I think they should also use Sculk's vibration mechanic. Here's what I mean.
Since vibrations were added, we all know that a block can now detect movement-based sound.
So, let's say, a player is walking along, and suddenly they fall. Any icicle in a 16-block radius (more or less) would have a 30-40% to fall down, and icicles that are closer to the player would have a 50-60% of falling. This way, players will have to be more careful about making stairs and not simply leaping off of edges carelessly.
Of course, these should also grow faster than Pointed Dripstone, and be able to grow of there is water in a certain radius of them, or if they're on some kind of ice.
An interesting idea with these would be to have these do less damage than Dripstone, but also make the player freeze a bit, so they're slowed down and mobs have a chance to catch up to the player, punishing them for not being careful.

Hello Mojang!! I love this idea because my mum works in ice caves, she is a geologist. We live in Spain and these caves are in the mountains. Hope to see icicles soon in Minecraft!!

Good idea and if you land right next to them then you will slide down it like one does on ladders but if you hit the top then it will have the same affect on you like the stalgamites and stalactites what about that

    中文:这的确是个好主意,作为中国区的Minecraft地图制作者,这可以弄成更丰富的关卡类型,所以我喜欢
English:This is really a good idea. As a minecraft map maker in China, it can be made into a richer level type, so I like it
