I Like this idea maybe there can be a variant of drip stone caves with ice and icicles instead.

Overall, this is a good idea. It would also be interesting if icicles fell over time and gave ice fragments, from which you can make regular ice (by placing fragments in all 9 crafting slots) or icicles (placing fragments in a triangle).

Its a great idea, but i think the Mojang devs want to keep the caves unique. Icy caves (maybe they only generates in cold biomes) would be amazing . Of course icicles would be amazing but i think the icicles should be unique not just a retextured dripstone. These caves are full of ice and rocky formations and strays can spawn in there.

Ice caverns must happen in 1.17!
The icicles could also spawn in tundra villages :D
Why isn't this under review yet?

I'd like to see something like this in a special cave that only has a chance to spawn in ice spike biomes, or in snowy biomes or something.

But what if they also have the mechanics of ice?
That when it is in the light it melts, starts dripping, and the tip of the ice stalactite can fall off?
It could be used for cold decorations. But what if they also have the mechanics of ice?

Random Dudes, it would be nice if they formed after a snowfall, growing on random blocks. And when an iceologer is added, it will spawn icicles over the player's head. Nine icicles can be used to craft thick ice. In warm biomes and near light sources, they will melt and when placed above the cauldron, they will melt and fill it. Sorry for my bad english, I use Google Translate.

There should be an ice cave biome or an icy variant of the dripstone cave where these would spawn. These should also drip powedered snow!

Quando houver uma fonte de lava por perto vai derretendo aos poucos o gelo acima

I like it. Maybe if you place the icicles in a more warm biome they start to melt. Also woud be nice to finde them in more cold biomes like hanging from trees or from roofs of a tundra villages

Maybe they would fall faster but do less damage?

The MC team needs to start putting this stuff under review. Its kinda sad that they made this section, have over 1.6k suggestions, and still haven't even reviewed any of them yet.

    Additional Ideas:

    Frozen ores & blocks:
Some ores and blocks have an extra layer of frost on them that you need to break to access it. As those caves can be very cold. But it will only happen at the coldest points of the cave. You can break the layer fastest with a pickaxe and slowest by hand.

The icicles could spawn on an existing ice block kind or a totally new block like a frost block. (very packed ice around a rock).

In the caves there will be a high chance of spawning Strays what would make mining even harder on top of the frost on some blocks and ores.

    Frozen loot chests:
Inside the caves you have a very small chance to find frozen loot. This loot is located inside a chest that has a layer of frost on top of it that you need to break order to access the chest.
The loot can vary from (all types of ice, snow balls, coal, wooden/stone/iron pickaxe, pumpkin, shears, snow block, bow, arrows, bones, golden apple, spruce logs, spruce saplings) the loot can contain parts of the Stray, some lost miner loot, learning how to make a snow golem, loot about what kind of tree lives above ground, etc...

    Water cave in snow biomes:
If the cave generates together with the new water caves the top layer should be ice.

It would deal more damage than stalactites because it is hard! THIS IDEA IS PERFECT!

That seems like a really good idea because, well you wouldn't really see an arcic place without icicles, would you? You have my support!

That also maybe would allow you to have water in the nether by, instead of lava on top, the water drips down, into the cauldron, being made of ice, it is COMPLETELY renewable!

In different types of biomes, the stalactites and stalagmites would be different variations too. Imagine that.

maybe instead of dripstone the icy cave could have froststone (or coldstone) and it would have a dark blue and white color scheme but same pattern as dripstone

Maybe a functional difference is that they give you frostbite when you touch them, and they don't break when they hit the floor.

Maybe it could have water in it as well, as like it is slightly melted

The icicles are made of ice, so they should melt from the torches, which would cause the icicles to fall if the torches were accidentally placed.

An ice cave would be amazing and cool, and I would like to see them under Frozen Plains and Ice Spikes. Maybe giant icebergs generate in frozen oceans and have smaller ice caves inside.

I really like this idea & I also would like to be able to place icicles in the Nether, for it to drip water & fill cauldrons just like regular stalactites in the overworld, but remember you wouldn't be able to place the water, it would just be in cauldrons like right now, so you could make potions without going to the overworld every time for water in potions, so the Nether would be even more livable.
