I really like this idea & I also would like to be able to place icicles in the Nether, for it to drip water & fill cauldrons just like regular stalactites in the overworld, but remember you wouldn't be able to place the water, it would just be in cauldrons like right now, so you could make potions without going to the overworld every time for water in potions, so the Nether would be even more livable.

We should also make it so the cave biomes with this also have ice blocks, and snow around. Ice blocks, and snow layers primarily with some snow blocks, a d powdered snow around as well. Stone should still be in this cave.

They should behave like ice. Basically, you should slip on them, they should only be accessible to those with silk touch, they should melt in hi light levels, etc. But, they should also behave like pointed dripstone.

Yes I like this idea and then
I suggest make icicles should be able to use on bows and Crossbow and inflict a freeze debuff
The more you got hit the freezer you get also Slow
Though the damage is Weak so probably
A substitute Ammo for bows and Crossbow

I believe all stone should have the pointed block variant.

Differences with icicles they cannot drip lava, and water will increase their growth. When they fall on you they will not deal as much damage but will also give the frost effect.

They shouldn't drop if you don't have silk touch.

They drip water faster if there's something hot near it and not be able to drip lava if there's a source block above it too.

Would they melt over time due to heat from torches, lava, etc?

Maybe these could form at the front of caves in snowy tundra, snowy taiga, and ice spikes biomes.

Would be cool if they could melt and fall randomly when exposed to heat or light.

I absolutely love this idea. At the very least having a handful of icicle variants for builds would be very very welcome and would absolutely fit in the game.

Please ignore anyone asking for them to melt, if they want water they can get a bucket lmao. Imagine placing snow in a desert with the icicles, you can make a frozen desert, thats pretty neat.

As the icicles are more icicle like and not stalactites, you could pepper them into already existing dripstone caves AND regular caves in cold biomes to give a frozen appearance. Versatility is key.

I hope you consider this addition to the game.

Rather than being based specifically upon being under certain cold biomes, it could just use the preexisting system in which biomes generate in larger areas according to the temperature of the area. This is why you see a large number of mountains, taigas, and glaciers near each other, or deserts and savannas. Speaking of which, a cave biome with simply high amounts of lava and magma would work well as a balance and as a way of providing more variety. Maybe it could replace all water in aquifers with lava, as part of its generation?

Maybe becouse they are made of ice, so when a mob or a player falls on it, it breaks one block of it.

Absolutly yes! Maybe its even possible to have a specific biome color for these stalagmites like grass and water does in for example jungle and swamp. That way we can have cave variations based on different tint of dirpstone, perhaps stone and you wouldnt need to add new blocks for it.

Just a side note, there's another post very similar to this: https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/360074341732-Snowy-Caves-Hidden-Under-Powdered-Snow-Including-New-Mobs-and-Icy-Fossils

Go vote for this one, too!

Maybe you could name them Frosty Stalactites and maybe the texture could look like an iced over stalactite.

Octoboy80 "Frosted Dripstone" probably fits better, but I love your idea!

I like that idea but how about like this. In Bedrock Opaque Leaves exist and these leaves will be opaque once the weather will be snowy. But whenever a player is inside the Dripstone Caves and a snowfall starts. Dripstones should turn blue and could've been better. A snowy weather inside the caves itself.

We need an ice cave with icicles, under icy biomes, at least as a retexture of the dripstone caves.

I assume there would be a stalagmite variant to match?
