I think that this is a great idea as some dimensions are made of of Towers of Diamond and netherite blocks

This would be too overpowered, there are dimensions made of ancient debris

I love this idea and the suggestions would keep it a balanced part of the game.

I can only play Minecraft on bedrock and when I heard about this new feature my heart sank. I think it would be a good idea for bedrock and Java a like. Imagine having a dimension that only you knew about that you could use as a vault. Got some rare items you want to hide, no problem. Grab a book and quill come up with a text and write it down in a journal. Then throw the book again. go and explore the world a little bit see what it has to offer find a nice little cozy spot where you can hide stuff and place torches so you will remember where it is. Boom vault dimension.

I like the idea, but not the execution. Keep everything the same. Make it a gamerule, infiniteDimensions, which enables and disables the creation of infinity portals. They'll still be active and work if you disable the gamerule, but this way you can turn it on/off as you need to.

The problem with this snapshot being added to a mobile device is that it would take up an extreme amount of storage in your phone and theres a high chance that it might crash. This is probably a reason why mojang did not upload this update onto bedrock edition.

However, i would highly anticipate it if it really can come into the minecraft world for mobile gamers as it is facinating and full of wonder.

I would also suggest a different portal for this function.

Instead of using a basic nether portal, perhaps it must be a *special* portal whose frame is constructed from a composite of the new rarer materials.

A frame of Crying Obsidian connected to a Lodestone and a Respawn Anchor, then powered with the sacrifice of a Nether Star.

    Lore-compliant and mechanically consistent:
     - Crying Obsidian is obsidian that has been saturated with overloaded portal energy.
     - The Lodestone focuses and refines the portal energy seeping from the crying obsidian enough to resolve it into a coherent field.
     - The Respawn Anchor facilitates the connection to the other universe, ensuring that transit back and forth between realms is secure.
     - The Nether Star supercharges the Crying Obsidian, replenishing its portal energy saturation indefinitely as it pours that energy into the field.

Then the rest of it would function as you described.

    Reminiscent of mystcraft, actually...

I think this would be a great way to make the endgame even on small servers with friends mutch more fun, elytra and enderchasts in the inventory - explore the weirdness!

I think even so many changes don't need to be made. The idea using books and nethportals was good for a quick use (fools joke) but I think using block, let's say from the nether, hard to optain, for example "netherritebock" like Diamantblock "hard" to get. With a 4x4 frame on the floor 2x2 water in it, drop the book in the water and you get your world. Destroy the portal drops the book again.

Giving the dimension also random effects to @e (permanently in the dimension or over temporary over time in a sycle) can add some more challeng.

Also the "secret settings" filter we have can be used here. And I would throw every mob ever added to the game in the, so you can even try to get them to the normal world if they can be there (looking at the new nether mobs)

On servers I would use a command to activate this function, in single player either by command or worldsetting and in the world generation settings.

    Fazit:

This cult be a grate time of books in minecraft, what Text generates what and what are the best frases of known people so see what is written in between the letters!

I wait for it (bedrock Server player)

Do not remove the "joke" Dimensions, those are the best ones.

This needs to be a gamerule option

As cool as this sounds, after seeing the solid diamond block dimension, this is probably a game destroyer of an idea. Sure it could be tweaked in a way to make it better, but any way you spin it, this would completely change the rarity of blocks and could make the game all out of whack. Just my opinion tho, maybe in the right implementation it could be cool.

I don't think the joke dimensions (I think you mean the easter eggs like the library and "ant") should be removed and that blocks should be otherwise balanced out differently since that's the whole point of this feature: to get access to absolutely crazy worlds. Making it "too endgame" might also ruin this effect.

However I think the generation is a bit dull when it comes to structures. It seems like it is a combination of the same x components all the time and many dimensions share features like no caves or insane daylight-night-cycles. That strains my PC a LOT. Why not make any duration for a day kinda equally likely based on a logarithmic function? so that 1/10 of the usual cycle is as likely as 10x the usual cycle and so on? (I mean so that it is not skewed towards only longer durations but like a bell-curve centered around the normal length)

Those are my thoughts on this. I would really like to combine this with an old world and play it this way.

I really want this as a future update for Minecraft! Imagine a diamond dimension, red stone dimension, blue dimension or any kind of dimension you desired? It would be awesome!

Removed my vote because the lovely addition in 20w21a is quite satisfactory as a replacement for this.

they shouldnt just keep it they should have it as a world settings option/launcher option

edit: if enabled it should auto enable cheats to avoid anyone getting achievements on the bedrock version by just going to a dimension filled with op stuff it would make the game to easy.

Don’t add this to the game fully, make it a cheat ONLY. So that it’s optional and not overpowered. Also, keep the joke worlds.

I like this idea. K4SPIEN suggested those dimensions will only be available once you kill the ender dragon, an idea that I accept. I like the idea about the quests, but I don't like the idea that you lose everything once you return to the overworld. Finnegan O'Donnell told this would be op, but I don't agree since it's random. You might end up in a dimension full of valuable items, but then again you may end up in a dimension full of trash.

It would be overpowered if you could watch a video and then get infinite diamonds world. Also, it would be cool if there were super rare new ores that made it so you could upgrade your diamond armour to (ore)armour and had special abilities.

I think the world gen options from that version should be added to the customized world features in the current versions, as I see no reason why they have to be 'april fools' exclusive. I mean after all, stained glass originated from an april fools version.

The "Infinity" snapshot features were just too great an idea to be limited to a single April fool's snapshot on Java. Mojang would be fools indeed to let this one fall by the wayside.

That said, there should be the possibility of programming a custom dimension's generation, both in-game and by modding.

Instead of all the biomes in the April fool's, they could just make it generate single biome world's (and things like flat world's) with varied points of interest density, mob spawning rates and resource generation.

To balance it, use expensive material to both inscribe the books and have the table be made of rare materials. You can also use the same menu for the enchanting table, where books are level tied, cost levels and possibly something like netherite scrap to inscribe. Beds still explode, different sky's and portal colors to give an obvious your not in the overworld. Can also have things like an always night and always rainy/thunderstorm planes. Planes like flat world being cheep, and storm world costing more level & required levels. The enchanting table style would make it easy to the player to pick a book from a list and easier on the programmer to curate books. It'll also make it where the player can try out different worlds well not having to start from scratch, adding to a world's replayability.

Creators/modders could make resource packs that add books [name, color (portal/sky), biome, weather, spawnrate, POI density] and just use the last 3 to level the book that way it can't break the game.

The 20w14infinite snapshot is, by far, my favorite Minecraft thing to be released in a long time. As new blocks are implemented, it would be great to have them be able to spawn in “infinity dimensions” in newer versions, instead of having to stay with only Nether Update features and below when playing with these dimensions in the original snapshot. Bringing it to Bedrock Edition would also be important for parity.

However, I don’t think it should be added to worlds without it enabled as an option, because of balance issues for Survival players, and I think the “joke” dimensions should stay. At least keep “Skygrid” and “Bridges”, please.

I think this should be a gamerule such as:

    gamerule infiniteDimensions true

that requires cheats to be on.

So what if the inscription table was like an endgame thing where after you beat the ender dragon and read the credits when you spawn back in the overworld you get a book that says something about how there’s more than the end maybe by the beings who talk to you in the credits and it tells you how to get the inscription table and you make it with a lectern the dragon egg the dragon skull and netherite ingots like this, lectern in the middle dragon skull on top a netherite ingot on either side of the lectern and end stone at the bottom three spots then you make the block and place it..... but the only way for it to work is if you power it by holding the egg and right clicking or pressing a button at the bottem of the screen then the inscription table consumes the egg and is powered forever then you take a book and some xp levels maybe 10 right a book with the inscription table and through it In a portal.

Now for everyone who’s is like “but it’s the only egg. I don’t want to lose my ender dragon skull” I’m pretty sure you are going to bump into many ender dragon eggs and skulls

Also maybe an old temple or some kind of structure that has pre made portal books or has paper or books that say some portal names like in the 20w14infinite snapshot there were specific dimensions that you could go to like llama or ant and they could have some more story in those dimensions or something
