Minecraft strikes me as a medieval set sandbox game, with fantasy components. Catapults would be a great addition to any castle lacking an army of players to defend itself!
But how would this contraption even work?
Materiel:
Catapults would be constructed using iron ingots, sticks, and maybe a wood block or two.
Usage:
Catapults would be loaded with cobblestone, or perhaps a boulder crafted from four to nine cobbles. Expanding on the boulder idea, different kinds of boulders could affect the damage and effects it produces:
- Cobblestone: Basic all-around boulder.
- Netherack: Can be lit before launch. Slightly weaker than cobble.
- Endstone: More damage than cobblestone.
- Obsidian: Replaces the block it hits, making it appear impaled in the ground. Stronger knock back.
- Prismarine: Skips on water?
The catapult would then need to be drawn back by the player, with the time drawn back affecting the distance the boulder/cobble is launched.
The drawback could be halted by pressing sneak, allowing it to be fired that distance whenever zombies arrive.
Redstone
Activation via redstone should be supported for drawback and fire:
- Input from bottom/side would drawback depending on how long it receives signal.
- Input from back would fire the catapult at it's current drawback value.
