The default 10 chunks makes it so underwhelming to create big things. We’ve been working on our Realm for years and our very sad that this setting hasn’t been changed yet. Pulls us away.

im always checking up on this post to see if this is ganna get reworked. because i get affected by cap on render distance on realms i have a GTX 2070 Super like i can run this game Very easily but my friend has lower specs that me but he dosnt get effected by the cap so im kinda curious is to why this is a thing. id 110% pay extra for more render distance and a higher simulation distance. (enderman farms are not possible on realms)

This is so Frustrating! Im in the PS4 platform and the realms has just been released last month and 1 week later i cant even see the other side of the park in my city! all of my friends are frustrated by this crappy update done by Mojang, If it is for the optimization of realms at least give us console players a chance to actually see better! This is so frustating when building a city if you cant even see the top of your skyscraper!

I've waited years for this (PS4 owner) and have just paid for my first month.

I won't be paying for a second month as this is like sterling back in time. Minecraft on the overworld is pointless with suck a low draw distance.

    Very, very disappointed.

Please please increase realm render distance. 10 chunks in 2021 is quite pathetic really. I want to actually see my realm and what is being built around me.... What is the point of a community if you can't see or feel it?

I 100% agree with this. Many devices can support even 64 chunks and 10 chunks feels really bad. The beauty of minecraft is exploration but with this render distance I can't even see a mountain unless I'm right in front of it.

I pay 8€ per month for a 10 player realm, I wanna at least play with a decent rendering distance.

Is this still being looked into? just the post is from 2018 and the render distance is still only 4 chunks on my realm and I can't change it. Its taking so much of the fun out of playing with friends any enjoying the game in general. As we have to pay for the realms I don't see why it should be a reduced version of the game

Ever since I realized how much of a difference it makes to play on a realm vs normal world, i cry when i join the realm. It makes such a bad experience, it makes the whole game feel like a lot less. Render distance should at least be on par with the Xbox one and ps4's 22chunks and 10 junk simulation distance. For a private server that does basically nothing besides being available when you want to play, backups, and this bottlenecking performance, I'd expect a maximum of 2€/month, but this is 4 times the price.

Please let us experience minecraft 'normally'. Make a 10€ version, without all the realms plus stuff, but a higher performance realm that can at least perform as well as last gen consoles.

It will be mindblowing when there's a next gen version with even more rendering distance on ps5 and xsx while realms still only have 10 chunks

I'm bumping this issue, because it still sucks.

I agree, just got a realm for me and my friends and I feel like the max render distance is set way to low especially for a game as popular as minecraft. How are we suppose to do massive builds when you can barely see your environment. Something that should really be focused on improving for the minecraft community.

I would not have bought realms if I read this thread 5 mins ago...

Just showing my support for an increase in render distance for realms, I find the excuse of hardware limitation to be insubstantial as the hardware can manage increased rendering in single or multiplayer sessions outside of realms. For £7 a month, it’s shocking that the render and simulation distance is so little, especially when realms is the only server option available to console players.

As a first time realm subscriber, I was utterly shocked at how low the draw distance is set.  My group of friends had a 3rd party host many years ago, which had way further draw distance than this.

I have to admit if this is the power of the "cloud".  Maybe we need more sunny days and less clouds.

Hi, wanted to add my comment to pile too: After waiting for ages for a way to play on a permanent world with my friends on PS4/PS5, was super excited to jump back to my old world transferred to Realms.. only to find out everything looks very different and constrained due to the render distance. Given building massive structures and creating beautiful vistas is really one of the main draws of the whole game, limiting draw distance to mere 10 blocks is really a let down and makes think the current fee for realms is not justified, given it only gives "half a game" even on consoles.

Especially since there's no doubt a next gen version coming at some point with even higher than the current console standard render distance of 22, not to mention high end pc:s, limiting render distance on the realms side, the premiere / intended multiplayer solution for crossplay is really inexcusable. I really hope you consider this now again in 2021 and raise it or even better make it fully configurable depending on device. Like many people, I would personally even willing pay some premium for this feature, whereas this current state is really driving me away from paying for realms and to turn every stone to find an alternative..

Thanks in advance for considering this!

Yes! This is a major problem with realms on Bedrock. I played a realm and I missed an end ship due to the render distance being so low. It is a problem that needs to be fixed!

I was going to suggest maybe the Spyglass could be a nice stopgap solution? I don't really understand the rendering engine, but maybe if the spyglass could render farther than the set distance? It'd certainly make end city hunting a lot more bearable, and give the spyglass a legitimate use.

I'm getting rid of realms immediately after finding out about this render distance. It changes the entire game and ruins the whole point of shared creations. I'm a little pissed that a two person realm can't go over 22 chunks!

Please, for god's sake increase the render distance on realms. I can't even see the bottom or top of my tower I spent months on because the render distance is so low. Set it to at least 16, PLEASE

Just wanted to give an update to my comment from Feb: My Realms test subscription ran out and I never bothered to renew it ie. actually start paying for it. Instead I took my 4 year old low-powered i3 Surface Pro 4 tablet that I had just lying around, put Minecraft on there and left it playing in the corner of my room (with simple auto key bind ensuring the player always tries to sleep). We have been happily playing with the 4 of us all on PS5s ever since, enjoying a persistent world and fricking double the render distance compared to Realms subscription.

Honestly, if a 4 year old lower end non-gaming laptop can host this and handle the higher render distance, I just can't understand why a paid premium service couldn't. I'd still happily pay for a usable service, even more than the current asking price if I could actually get the features I need. With your current offering, even the free options beat what you put out. Please fix this!

I am usually proud of Mojang, but this is complete BS, my phone can render Minecraft at 44 chunks, THATS 44 CHUCKS ON A PHONE, My laptop can render 60 chunks, and my pc can render 96 chunks, and when you put the render distance BELOW the lowest possible rendering distance it is a shame, aka 10 on realms and 12 on the local world, it is absurd, FOR A SERVER, and they have had almost 4 YEARS to implement this, and when you spend almost a year on a realm, it pains to see it go away, I thought building in spawn chunks would keep the farms active, and am yet to test it.

I understand server performance issues, but not for paid servers/Realms. It's contradictory if you think about it. If you pay, your experience is downgraded. Mojang fixed performance in one way, and took away something else to do it. Hopefully in the future, they will scale render distance according to number of players on the server. I mostly play alone. I use realms for the back up capability to "undo" those rare mistakes with fill commands when building lol. I have an entire city build with highways running through it. I can't see the buildings on the other side of the highway. I can't see the top of my skyscrapers. I can only see as far as what would be about a city block in real life. I can't stand back and enjoy the work I've put into my world. It's definitely not a good look for creating YouTube vids. This is quite a bit depressing - and no fun. Every time I see my world on the Realm versus locally (also very limited render distance), I consider cancelling my sub. I haven't used a back up in months, and have been playing more and more locally - specifically for the slightly higher render distance. Less and less need for the realms sub.

How many years does it have to be under review before we get even a response, let alone a change?
Mobile phones can run perfectly fine with render distances higher than what realms offers.

It's very disappointing that Realms takes advantage of the immense Azure infrastructure that Microsoft boasts about and does nothing with it. 4 chunks of simulation distance is nothing.

Please increase the the render distance. I want to support Mojang but 3rd party servers are looking more appealing due to render distance.

Literally because of this we will not be able to enjoy the new caves due to the annoying fog that ruins the experience and the spyglasses because what is the use of a spyglass if you not only see fog around you ...

I signed up for Realms Plus 2 days ago. Today I cancelled my subscription.  The render distance cap is my sole issue with canceling.  After this experience I am now on the side of gamers that have learned how to have their own Minecraft server independent from Mojang.

Me and my friends have been playing the same realm for several years and we love every moment of it! We take it really seriously becuase thats what we think makes it fun. We get competitive with builds and mining. Overall, the chunk limit isn't going to stop us from having fun, but sometimes we wanna document what we have done and the chunk limit is so low we can even get the build in a single photo.

Agreed! Me and some friends and siblings started a realm recently. We have Xbox players, computer players, iphone player, etc. and I (windows 10) can't see anything. I have worked on video games as a hobby for some time now, I understand how rendering and multithreaded systems work and for a $20 game, paying $8 a month this is pathetic. Just make render distance settings client based. So someone on a really good device can render 70 chunks, while someone on a... less fortunate hardware system can set their settings to 16 chunks or whatever. Or just make it were the host can set the render distance for the whole server. If you brake you're device it's you're fault! Either way, the people paying for the server should be able to chose such settings, not the people I'm paying.
