    No, this would make capes less desirable and less rewarding for players who have played the game for a while and have gone through the trouble to get a cape.

    some people don't have capes (like me and most of my friends) so it would be nice to have banner or just the normal 16 dyes on our elytra!

    Ok 3 things
    1 elytra are grey
    2 I think while we're talking about elytra customization I want some sort of chest plate or something because I hate having my sweet armor look getting messed up because of wings doesn't even have to give protection it's just annoying
    3 custom superflats on console

    The issue here is that capes are not widely available for those saying "just use a cape"; not everyone has one, even after the Migration & Vanilla capes. Unless cape parity is added (because everyone owns the Pancape on Bedrock & Sinister cape in MC Dungeons meaning everyone would have one who plays the game), there isn't a lot of options to customize your elytra right now and dying them colors with dyes would be a simple way to color shift the default elytra allowing for customization on elytras for capeless players while respecting those with capes with their unique designs.

    Locking customization to a cosmetic cape that's nearly impossible for the average player to obtain in a sandbox game where you express yourself isn't very intuitive.

    to be honest it would look cool if you could put like a banner design on it or dye it to make it look cool but others who think it can just match your cape and you dont need well your dum you kinda need it because the regular elytra is boring and most people hardly have a banner

    I think that the elytra should not be dyed but I do think they should change it to a blackish purple colour
