This is a really good idea.  Another thing I think would work well with this is elytra enchantments.  Here are some of my ideas:

Soaring I would multiply your flying speed by 1.5, Soaring II would multiply it by 2, and soaring III would multiply it by 3.

Divebomb I would do damage to any entity you fly into, dividing your blocks per second by 4 to get how much damage is done, while Divebomb II would divide by 2, killing an armorless player going forty blocks per second.  The durability damage done to your elytra would be your blocks per second while divebombing an entity.

Boost I would boost you up five blocks when activating your elytra one block away from the ground, to get some flying distance.  This would do your elytra ten durability damage each time this is used.

Catching I would activate your elytra for you if you were less than a block away from the ground, not holding a water bucket, and about to die from fall damage, but it would do four hundred durability damage to the elytra, making this enchant two use at most before your elytra broke.

Waterjet I would allow you to use your elytra normally underwater, but without the need of fireworks.

Last flight I would make it so that once your elytra broke it would still be usable, but lose momentum twice as fast and make fireworks unusable, just to give you a safe landing.

The elytra would also be enchantable with protection, but only protect you as much as a leather chestplate would with the same enchantments.

It will be an great feature for an elytra !
Maybe we culd even craft them together with an banner in the Crafting Table, and the banner's design will appear on the elytra !
Or maybe we culd edit an elytra in a loom like an banner !

These can and could be made by combining a banner with designs and an elytra in the crafting table

me gustaría que ese proceso fuera así que tu hicieras un estandarte normal o personalizado y en la mesa de crafteo poner ese estandarte y las elitras y quedarían las elitras con el diseño del estandarte algo parecido a como cuando usas elitras con una capa

This would be awsome. However, the elytra should stay blue as it is not an item you can just use cauldrons for. If you get a custom capes mod, you can design your elytra that way.
