It actually sounds pretty cool but they would need to manage, that the lava isn't going to flow into other biomes like Jungles to prevent it from completely burning down...

Look at - Lego Worlds - , it has a good Volcanic landscape , use it as a template.

I think this is a cool idea, but in my opinion i would like it rather to be just a volcanic biome having volcanic activity that doesn't pour lava everywhere making builds close to it burn up. The biome should be a biome that only appears in the middle of the Gravelly mountains or the badlands to make it not look weird. Like it would be weird if you saw a snowy biome with a river seperating it from a desert with a volcanic biome right next to that, with a small touch of plains in the middle. So basically to make it look more natural. When the volcanic biome is made in a badlands or gravelly mountains, it should be called something like Volcanic gravelly mountains and Volcanic Badlands. Also it should be a bit rare. Now, For the volcanic stuff, if there is a mountain in the biome (probably around y = 105), it will or might be turned into a volcano having obsidian or probably basalt around the top and lava inside a hole formed in the top with more smoke effects than usual. For the eruptions, the standard lava "pops" or in other words the lava bubble effect can suddenly start to increase in quantity and reaching higher for a small amount of time, and could also have a shaking effect on players around (making what you see shake). This effect could then probably be accesible by commands for map makers. And the eruptions should also be controllable by commands like: "/gamerule doVolcanicEruption false/true"    and "/volcanicEvent @e[r=50,type=volcano] enable" or something like that idk. but for the Surrounding terrain in the volcanic biome, it should have areas with stone and small geyser like things with the magma blocks in it. Villages could probably spawn there but im not sure. Also mobs, special volcanic mobs would be epic, just absolutely EPIC.

It would be great to see if the volcano would be larger

I really like this idea, it adds more blocks to minecraft and, makes a little challenge. I would love to see a new block (cooled lava) and please, mojang don't use obsidian in this build, it wont look good, obsidian is not a good block to build with...

The volcano could be made from a new kind of stone

Yeeeeeeeeah no. Maybe a structure, but this so far sounds ridiculously overcomplicated, and frankly pointless.

Maybe there could even be a new block called lava rock.

I’m with you guys. I love the volcano biome idea, but there’s way too much going on here. Eruptions would change so many mechanics in the game and would destroy players builds and stuff. But having a biome with lava and magma and a big open hole in the top of a mountain would be really cool!

Nice! Would it look kind of like Scar's Hermitcraft 6 island?

Yeah! We can also have magma blocks and a new zombie called the "The Engulfed"!

I think that there should be a structure that spawns at the bottom of the volcano's caldera. Maybe it could have Nether Serpents mentioned here, as well as Dispensers loaded with the almost forgotten Fire Charges.

A small reference to the Fire Temple from Ocarina of Time, and it would spice up the biome even more ;)

The limit is y=128 blocks. Unless in an amplified world, that idea is difficult. We just need the max to be around y=150 or something for all worlds.

This sound's really intriguing! I would actually like to see this added to the game. But maybe they could make ancient tunnels through the volcano that has treasure at the end! Like a bridge that goes right over the lava inside the volcanoe! This way you don't know when the volcano will erupt making you want to get off the bridge and to the treasure! The treasure would give the player some incentive to want to go in the volcano!

Would the ground be made of basalt

Cooled lava is just obsidian... when lava is cooled it makes obsidian in minecraft and real life... also when it's raining in other biomes you could have falling ash in this one. Maybe a natural spawning temple or cave ruin with a nether portal to take you to a dimension that is basically one giant volcano.

Volcanic ERUPTIONS would be too laggy. But volcano biomes are a great idea.

Volcanos should only spawn in the ocean, to make it more tropical

It would be like a little portion of the nether in the overworld, except for the terrain materials; but would be nice too that magma stone would be included like it does in deep underwater 12Y caves. I think it would be much harmonious rather now where there's just one single lava source block in hills biomes and it doesn't looks amazing, it's just a glowing mountain dropping lava.

Now this suggestion made me expectant.

Volcanoes in real life don't just occur on land, they also occur under water. So a volcano in game would be a rare natural structure occurring in any biome, even in the ocean. Volcanic underwater wouldn't necessarily seem like a volcano unless you check the biome, so if it erupted it would a surprise.

Volcanoes can be made up of various types of volcanic rock, including basalt, obsidian, andrisite, ect. Plus adding basalt to the game would add a type of black rock to the game, as we currently only have obsidian, black terracotta, and concrete.

Volcanic eruptions can be a particle effect shooting out molten rocks and clouding the sky with dense smoke. The rocks will turn into a volcanic rock type if they happen to land in water and will not cause fires ( or volcanic fire could be an optional setting ). If you go up the volcano and get into the smoke, or are high enough up in a volcano biome you will get a volcanic smoke debuff that will poison you. Smoke would not occur underwater and getting hit with volcanic rock would do a half heart of damage. On land volcanic rock would cause 1 heart of damage.

If you want lava flows, then any unmined blocks hit with a volcanic rock will turn into lava. It would be similar to how leaves do not decay after being sheared.

I see some people have suggested this is too much like the nether...I disagree, since it is NOT the nether. A mountain that spews lava in the over-world would be cool, and dangerous, which would be great! Love this idea.

There are plenty of Minerals, Crystals and Stones that are forming in volcano walls, below them, surface where Lava is spreading, or in Lava itself so if this update ever made into the game Im expecting at least to add new Minerals, Crystals and Stones, geologist would be happy tho
