Woah woah. You started with a great idea. And th3n it’s blew up(puns) if the volcano was mountain sized, but not enormous, having basalt, black sand, white sand, magma, lava, and obsidian, and erupted now and again that would be awesome! If you found any lakes generated in the biome, they could hot springs!

Actually, we have most of the effects/mechanics needed to simulate an "eruption." Let me reference a few blocks/mobs that have said effects/behaviors that could help make a visually appealing eruption.

    1. Lava already has a particle that sparks of the lava block. (increasing the number of these particles when the lava is rising could help make it look more like an eruption)

    2. Furnaces have smoke particles.

    3. when it snows snow layers pile up gradually. (Also, if you place a lava block in the air and cut of its source before it fully spreads, if you look closely, a very thin sheet of lava will start to fall to the ground. So in a way we already kind of have thin lava layers)

So I guess its just a bunch of particles with rising lava. As long as the particles are in a moderate amount it shouldn't cause to much lag for a rare short event.

Sure, it'd be a little complicated to actually code out, but anything worth having takes work to earn. Complication/a little elbow grease shouldn't be a reason to count out a good idea. Especially if it adds a nostalgic air of realism to the game that could also pose a slight obstacle for the player.

While a neat concept, its too complicated for my taste. You are adding whole new MECHANISMS in the game, not just blocks and structures. Erupting would be very difficult to pull off and actually make it have an effect on the player, like actual lava filling the whole place up. Honestly, not my thing.

Other than the snow and villages, that is the Nether.

I like the idea of a volcano biome. I think ash blocks and ash layers would be great also. They could spawn around the the volcano.

Love the idea! Usually volcanic eruptions are mostly ash, so what if an eruption in this biome was programmed like snow in mountain biomes? It would be pretty cool if "volcanic ash" (new item/block) built up (just like snow layers when it snows). Also "volcanic ash" would work as a fertiliser (ash is a great fertiliser IRL) to compliment bone meal.

I also think that the "weather status?" "volcanic eruption" should reduce the players visibility distance a lot so the world looks darker.

I think the volcano idea has some real merit since lava is already in the game.

For "erupting" the volcano can just be constantly pouring a lava river out of the erupting side.

Great idea, but i think that it should just "rain" lava particles as an eruption, I think it should damage you as rain damages blazes. Also, another great idea would be faster crop growth (ash is nutritious to plants) and surface ores that generate. This would make it a great balanced biome because there then, would be benefits (crop growth, surface ores) with risks (dying in lava rain.) also lava rain should destroy dropped items.

it would be pretty cool to wander around and find a huge volcano the size of a biome

I have my idea here of the same topic:

There will be a very rare chance that there is a volcano on the ground. It will be made of stone and obsidian, stretching to bedrock. Inside will be filled with lava.

However this may lag weak enough computers.

Eruption would be difficult, but the Volcano biome idea is just great! What about a new cinder block that can be divided in bone meals?

In real life crops grow faster when slight ash falls on them. So maybe crops could grow faster? Also there could be a nether portal in the center of the volcano. Also the volcano should be closed off, because most volcanos rely on pressure, but there should be at least one or two steam vents.

I think it should look like a combination of these two images.

We already have the nether, but it would be really cool (especially since it can erupt) and mojang could also add basalt (that cooled black lava block you said)

Very cool idea but don't make it erupt.

THIS IS THE BEST BIOM IDEA EVER! And also add VERY valuable treasures inside the volcano 🌋 and maybe even a big boss

Imagine climbing down into the crater, and there’s a big alcove in the side with a red dragon nest! This would be awesome! Or maybe you need to find a volcano and place a dragon egg in it near the summit to hatch a red dragon.

Sounds good. Could be a little smaller though. That sounds like a big mountain to take up a whole biome so why not just put one in a jungle or something. Good idea though.

I would do this a little more simply. I would skip villages and eruptions, but definitely make a really huge volcano surrounded by some other sub biome. Consider a volcano surrounded and partially covered by jungle, volcanic desert like out in Utah, volcanic plains like parts of Iceland, extremely mountainous and cold volcanic regions in otherwise very cold, snowy regions, volcanic islands in the ocean, etc.

I think that if a Volcano biome were added it would be really cool if there was a new ore to go with it, may I suggest the ruby. The ruby would be like the emerald as it would only be found in the volcano biome. I think rubies should only be obtainable with a diamond pickaxe. I think it would be neat if there was a new weapon to go along with ruby. A staff. The staff would be craftable using two blaze rods and one ruby, the staff would do about as much damage as the trident when using it as a melee weapon but I think it would be neat if the staff could fire out orbs of energy like a bow. The staff would lose two durability points every time an orb was fired and lose one durability point every time the player used it as a melee weapon. The staff would be repairable by using rubies in an anvil. This is all just an idea but I really do think it would be a good thing to go along with a volcano biome.

    I love the idea, but:

    • Volcano shouldn't take up the entire biome; the biome itself should just have one or two big and several smaller volcanos
    • It should have obviously new blocks, like new types of sand or dust and basalt
    • Eruption seems unnecessarily complicated, but Mojang could review this
    • It could have lava rivers
    • Villages shouldn't be there, although I think Pillager Outposts could be there
    • It very much looks like overworld Nether, but it shouldn't compete with Nether, so it shouldn't have same mobs; in Nether there will be pig-related mobs, so this Volcano biome could have cow-related mobs, like a minotaur and a fire-cow, for example

There could be different types of volcanoes such as Shield, Cinder, and Composite volcanoes!

Take it one step further, you could have extinct Volcanos that are filled with water.

Been wanting this for a while. Maybe not so huge, but I’ve loved the idea of a volcano, wot a crater, and maybe a “lava” chamber that went down to bedrock. Possibly some ores could be placed as well. The small village on the side is a nice touch too! Volcanoes should be rare, but this sounds great. Particles and such could simulate the minor “eruption”, so it doesn’t lag too much. Maybe if the lava rises and falls a few blocks? Similar to me having the idea of minor/localized “flooding” during heavy storms.
For the most part, I’m on board.

I agree. This could present a new challenge to the player if they come across it. I have some suggestions to add onto it too.

1:  The cooled lava block could be basalt, as that is cooled lava IRL.

2: When the Volcano is dormant, the “lava” at the bottom could be magma, it would do 8 points of damage instead of 5, and to collect it you would need a stronger bucket (diamond bucket), otherwise, the bucket would disappear and hurt you by 1 point of damage.

3: Most volcanoes would be extreme hill - sized, but rarely, you could find stratovolcanoes. These volcanoes stretch above the build height limit, and when they erupt, not only could they do extreme amounts of damage to the environment, but they would also change the weather in all biomes, making it snowy for a long duration until it goes to normal. Hot biomes such as the desert and savanna would just start raining whenever there is precipitation.

Most volcanic eruptions did not fully involve lava, some eruptions only have of smoke and debris shot into the air, so maybe Ash can rain on players and pile up like snow or small chunks of cobblestone can fall down and maybe crush players. Also maybe this place can have an infinite lava source as well as a purpose that doesn't only finding it like finding a mesa, cool until there's nothing to do.

I think that within the volcano biome diamonds should be more frequent or even generate higher up due to how real world volcanoes form diamonds

Now that we have basalt, maybe have basalt as the biome with obsidian and lava rivers going to water and large volcanic mountains with craters on top as the volcanoes are cones with lava on top in the crater with lava flows and rivers of lava going down the slopes of the volcano.
