Pet Dragons?

How about having a dragon of your own? in any sizes (dog size dragon or Ender dragon size) watching them grow from a baby hatchling to an adult, including with its own elemental powers, and where you have to find it specifically like; water dragons will be in the sea in temples, fire dragons at the volcanos or dungeons, earth dragons at the forests/jungle temples, nether dragons at the netherworld, cave dragons at the caves or abandoned mines, etc. they should also have the distinct color and design of their elemental powers.

    YES! I have always loved the idea of dragons in the game! The How to Train Your Dragon world in the marketplace is a great start to a concept like this, but I think something more Ender dragon-style fits the regular version of the game, and I’m not sure if it’s even reasonable but a way to steer without having to look where you are flying would be ideal. But maybe that’s just me.

    Also for those people saying that it would be too powerful, what if they were like wolves who basically only attack on your orders, and if they do so while untamed, they could just be very limited in their ability to do damage. Like, it would take a lot for them to even break a single block, and seeing them target anything is fairly rare. Or if they didn’t break blocks and just caused damage to mobs. If that’s not realistic maybe they could just be exclusive to creative mode. Just some thoughts…

    again, mojang wants minecraft to be it's own, game. we don't want it to be a first person shooter, not how to train your dragon, but minecraft, a sandbox game where imagination and story telling is more important than fan service.

    And I’m not necessarily saying that this should turn Minecraft into some kind of first person shooter or fanservice to some other franchise (if that’s the case why is that kind of material available in the game at all?), just that with the fantasy vibe it already has, dragons seem like the obvious choice to me, powers or not.

    PLS DO. Also it would be nice if the dragon egg had an actual use, althoug the ender dragon would have to drop one every time she is killed, cause of multiplayer.

    I don't like this idea because it doesn't make the egg the most uses full and I just don't want a dragon as a pet.

    Well, you see it would completely unbalance the mob scale and should be something that maybe could only be summoned in creative mode? It's a good idea but has a lot of consequences to it if added.

    Personally I'd keep it as a mod and not in vanilla minecraft as it would kinda ruin the whole gameplay and would seem more like a modded gameplay rather than original mc

    I think dragons could be a little overpowered, but if they are added I'm sure Mojang would make a way to make it balanced. They could produce a lot of lag depending on what they do but overall I think they should be added nonetheless. Size could also be an issue but I really want them in the game.

    Rideable little Ender dragon you hatch from the egg seems like the most obvious choice. If it flies and breathes fire it’s gonna be hell to balance.

    Omg I want a dragon so bad. why they take the red dragon off?

    but if they add a dragon they should have something else like a Griffin or a pet that you can tame under water. Like the horse with mermaid fins.

    Cool idea and  maybe u can tame a night dragon that are black and there fire is black and should spawn at night and Dissapear at night unless u tame it. But it'll fall asleep at day if u do that. And it should also have blue eyes AND ICE DRAGONS spawn in ice biomes in ice caves.

    I love this idea because it gives more time in the main game or end game than just being the End boss, I also feel like Minecraft's only fully useful pets are the horse and dog, so this would also bring more attention to the animal part of the game other than farms. This is also just a suggestion for it, maybe you could ride the dragon and also carry items like the mule, donkey and llama.

    How they would spawn sounds a little modded, maybe you get a random dragon type after hatching the dragon egg. (And maybe when adult dragons have been slayed, a new dragon egg will be dropped so that only 1 dragon is allowed in a world.)

    it would have to have know magic powers for it to be balanced, but it would be very cool. It would still be able to have different variants for biomes though. I bet it would have a very cool/interesting taming method and it could be like both a horse and a dog (attack stuff like a dog, be ridable like a horse). to be balanced, maybe it would be able to fly when you're not riding it, but while riding it, it would only be able to glide, clime, jump high, or swim depending on the variant.

    While I would love to have a pet dragon in Minecraft if they added that it wouldn't feel like Minecraft anymore (in my opinion) it would just feel modded and not vanilla and I would really like to keep the feel of vanilla Minecraft if you want pet dragons (and I think it's only on Java) you should 100% check out a mod called dragon mounts and there is a newer dragon mounts that is still being worked on by a different person then the last one but you could also try the Ice and Fire mod it adds more then just dragons!

    This is a very complicated issue. My guess is it would be super hard to make and once done lots of people would want it to be different. Still, with all the medieval style builds in Minecraft worlds and servers, it is a cool thought! While I don’t know if this suggestion is feasible, I DO definitely think that the end dragon’s egg should have a use in the overworld. That purpose should be rare and hard to do. Maybe it requires another rare item to achieve..?
