Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Crafting items in a crafting table does not consume XP, so uncrafting should not cost XP either.  XP cost should be used where XP was consumed, mostly on enchanting.

Example 1.  I had a bunch of wood planks, and accidentally made the maximum amount of crafting tables instead of one, as I pressed the wrong button.  I've also accidentally made too many doors, buttons, planks, and about anything else out of wood instead of making just one.  I would like to be able to recoup the original wood planks without any XP cost.

Example 2.  After venturing into the Nether, a bunch of pigmen were killed and I now have a plethora of golden swords.  We could break the swords down into gold and sticks.  I agree with durability, so breaking down a sword at 50% durability would give gold nuggets instead of ingots.

Example 3.  After clearing a mineshaft of the wood planks, fence posts, and rail track, we could break the posts back into wood planks and the rails into iron and sticks.

Cooked food, smelted ores, ender pearls, seeds, crops, and other non-crafted items would be excluded from the table.

Please save me from accidentally creating 64 wood planks again!!

Well calculated. I appreciate the way you have balanced and weighted returns for items based on durability, or lack there of - including predetermined values for items without recipes.

With all the diamond tools and armor I get from raiding end cities for shulker shells, this would be amazing to have. I anvil many together to get the perfect tools before converting to netherite but I have so many left over they fill chests in case I’m not paying attention and break my tool. Then it’s a quick replacement. An “un-crafting table” would help clear out the 2 double chest I have full of diamond gear that I have no use for. And I hate burning them in lava.

Melting items its already a way to recycle metal items. Composter for plant based items. Use for fuel wood items its already a way to recycle wood items. What other items want to recycle?

it should recycle 100% of the material if durability is full. maybe it needs to operate with fuel. it isn't that overpowered. use 4 iron to crafted it. for tools, it should based on percentage. recipes such as turning block back to items would be removed. you have method for dewaxing copper already, so no recycling. you can also add nugget in case the tool recycle isn't a full number

This would be great for when you accidentally craft something you didn’t want to

I have always wanted a uncraftingtable in minecraft! This would be a brilliant addition to the game.

Just make a mob that eats items and drops some of it's components

Wow i think this idea is awesome just i think there are some problems like is there a name? if there is not a name minecraft is gonna choose uncrafting table or something like that see you always want a name also i also think there is good news also. if you didn't mean to make something you just go to the block or if you have to many have what you actually need you would go there but listen to me about the name. - gem

Wow! Great idea. I've actually had the same idea, but you've pulled it off better! I think this idea would be great for all the junk that you can accumulate/miscrafted. Once again, great job!

That system makes recycleing pricey items like diamonds very useless, however I do believe that this is a good Idea. Just needs tweaking.

maybe for every thing that goes into it 50% chance an item comes back then durability if not a item with  durability then it just spits it out also it should take time

I honestly think that recycling diamond gear is a bad idea because it's too OP, and diamond tools are already used to craft the best gear in the game, so there would be no reason to recycle it other than completely destroying the purpose of mining for diamonds which by the way, is already broken thanks to villager trading. This would break the system even more because 2 of the few blocks that you couldn't farm (and shouldn't be able to be) (Jukebox and Diamond Block) would be way easily farmable due to these villager farms. Having a full diamond beacon would just not be as big of a flex anymore :(.

But stone tools would be awesome to be able to recycle because it unlocks a new skill tree for the super flat survival challenge.

it would be nice if Minecraft had a sensor whether you crafted it or not so if you crafted say 100 golden pressure plates you'd get the whole return.

I do think that any kind of fuel will work as long as can get all the gold I lost to stupid pressure plates

With the massive influence Minecraft has on every generation, I think it could be a great platform to introduce the ideals of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
I fish in Minecraft l quite allot and absolutely hate throwing away every bit of leather armour i get or the tropical fish, given they have little to no use other than taking up storage. With some sort of recycling table or some way to implement a window in the crafting menu that allows us to take apart things that have little to no use such as the saddle or leather amour (cause let's be honest, who uses leather armour?) Mojang/Microsoft could introduce some of the most fundamental ideas of a sustainable society. Throwing items that i have no use for back into the ocean is painful (yes i know it's just a game) and just throwing them on the ground, left to despawn it's a solution i particularly like either.
Please Majong, think of the children

The biggest flaw with this, that I have run across with uncrafting ideas is that it is really op. For one reason and one reason only. Villagers... The toolsmith, weapon smith, and armorer all sell diamond related tools, weapons, and armor. Entirely full durability may I add. Which would allow anybody with the uncrafting table to get diamonds for basically free. (If you have any source of emeralds or the ability to cure villagers, which tons of late game players have) Simple put villagers would ruin the whole diamonds only being obtained through structures and mining if the uncrafting table existed.

Perhaps additionally it would only be available on Easy and peaceful, only be used on player-crafted items, or be included in the 'cheats' list..?

I weigh in because I crafted 3 stacks of unwanted rail sections and am rather bummed I can't recover the amount of iron that was lost as a result....

Please add this in some fashion guys!!!

I love this idea too because I don't like to throw my things away
it could be random barter with the nomadic npc for our items

I love this! The amount of times I have crafted a ton of the wrong thing using precious materials is so annoying!
