I don't think the knives would work, instead he should be able to summon Fake Vexes. They would look like real Vexes, but would not change color when they target players, only have 1 heart, and die...

You should tame Axolotls with tropical fish, as it will be easier for people to move them into aquariums without accidently taming them.
