in order to not add new items, rabbit hide should be renamed to rawhide. So, rabbits drop 1 rawhide and bigger animals drop more. one rawhide  + something can be crafted to one leather.

I think just hostile and monster heads should be added. having a dead panda's head on your wall seams creepy for Minecraft!

3. New armour and weapons (steel)

a more realistic way to implement steel tools and armors is that you put iron tool/armor and a coal in anvil and use exp to get the steel version which is between iron and diamond.
