Well, seeing as emeralds are the rarest ores in the game I think it should be a little bit worse then diamond armour but provide buffs such are speed, strength and haste. Logic.

T3s T3ro, I believe that that would make it too hard and expensive to make for the average Minecraft player, how about a unlock system that requires the materials used to make the item for the firs...

I get the idea but we already have 24 consumables (besides potions) so I think we have enough. Also corn is also a huge apart of the world's diet so they would have to put that in too.
