please let servers opt out of the chat reporting/banning changes, some servers are geared to more adult players, and making the game "kids only" would only make it appeal to less players.

Server owners can handle rule breakers on their own accord.... Please do not add chat reporting as people might develop mods to abuse it. Third party servers already have their OWN RULES set in place and have done completely fine without help from mojang.

I feel like the ban should only go towards realms(because those are run by minecraft) but multiplayer should still be open because those are run by people.

Objectively a bad idea. and if you add it, then people who have more than 1 braincell will just disable this feature with mods so you wont be able to affect them anyway. Do not add this as this feels literally like something from 1984.

I understand that the reasoning this is done is for 'safety' purposes. But removing features of a game you paid for as punishment for things you say is censorship. I don't condone the terrible things some people can say, but I also don't think that they should lose their ability to play private servers with their friends. Banning should be a server to server implementation based upon the rules of the communities you are a part of. Global banning is unnecessary and way to harsh of a punishment for words. Its simple, you say something offensive to the community? Then good chances are that the moderators of those communities will remove you from the server.
Now maybe this feature could be implemented in such a way that If you get banned you would be put on a banlist. Then specific servers that want to choose to enable banlist-blacklisting will automatically prevent you from joining that particular server that you have never joined. But for private servers that could include anarchy servers, or your own server with friends banlist-blacklisting could opted out of and it wouldn't grab info from the banlist to blacklist people from joining that particular server. It would satisfy whatever 'safety' features microsoft is pushing and all of us who don't want to have this feature implemented. There is still the issue of this system being abused, which I don't know how to deal with. But as it stands, this feature is not good for anyone, and instills mistrust in communities.

I think chat reporting is a bad idea in general, nobody asked for that, nobody wants that does not work in bedrock and its not going to work in java, I think microsoft should listen more to the community, not tell us lies and say that minecraft java will be the same because I am not seeing this, in the first opportunity you tried to sensor us in the worst way possible having fear of being banned in my single player world.

While there is a place for curtailing hate speech, the fact that it comes at the cost of mass false reporting that can functionally delete an account, the utter lack of control afforded to server owners to handle their own moderation, and the fact it can even cost access to your own Singleplayer worlds or Realms you pay for is beyond unacceptable - and even worse for the fact these "features" are being foisted on all players, across all platforms, including Java edition.  How long before modders suffer these same consequences, and brick modern Java edition from being used as a creative platform for new content and ideas?

I think I'm soon gonna be banned for no reason because some random guy might false report my account and can't even wait for people to make bot accounts which mass report players

The ban list should be an opt in for servers, if a server owner wants to opt in to a global moderation system with bans and reports handled by mojang they should be able to but they should also be able to operate outside of that system because java servers are independently of mojang in the first place. If you want to create a pop-up warning users that they are joining unmoderated servers or add parental controls that's fair but forcing these vague guidelines on the entire java multiplayer community isn't the right way to do this.

Mojang if you are listening to the community then don't add this feature. If you need to add it, then at least allow it to be turned off multiplayer games. Java server have been able to moderate its chats for the past 10 years, this feature is unnecessary and is a waste of dev time, dev time and effort that is better placed in more positive changes(parity, next update, promised features). Also add the ability to turn of censorship in single player worlds for bedrock, mojang and microsoft has no business in a private world that only i can play on. (why does java get to have that feature and not bedrock?).

This is rather problematic on multiple levels.  I mean, Minecraft is meant to be a game that allows people to be creative, and be themselves online.  Sure, there are some horrible people online.  But you aren’t getting rid of them.  Your report system is not going to be used to rid servers of them, but to cause mass issues with horrible people reporting innocent people.  And what happens with the LGBTQ+ community?  What if someone tours my pride museum and reports me for using the word sexual in terms like pansexual, bisexual, ext?  What happens when homophobic people ban gay people just for the fun of it?  What happens when something in… say a pvp server gets reported out of context?  If someone says “Kill them all” referring to the gameplay, not anything real?  What about private realms of mature adults?  Are you suggesting that some adults can’t mess around away from kids?  And Minecraft is for all ages.  How can you suggest it should be for kids only?  You should have profanity and mature servers that set there audience to what they want, not set all of Minecraft for just one of many audiences.  And what about the people struggling through mental health issues that they use Minecraft to get past?  Minecraft has helped me through some darker times in my life.  Are you saying that by false banning, it’s ok to just remove a support system of someone working through depression?  Who are you to take that from us?  This is tyrannical, and it needs to stop.  Please,

This idea is a mess, the player reporting system is no a good idea in Bedrock or Java version of the game, the reasons given in the message that you has been banned is not enough, and for the way this reporting system has worked on Bedrock Edition (with false bans, and hundreds of thousands of players not even knowing that they could appeal) this idea just look worst and worst. Big servers had moderated from a great way since a decade ago and they don't need this new system, Java in general doesn't need this system.

I think is better that if you want to introduce this, first you have to polish this system, and not do it like the 1.17 actualization (released in half) and mess up with thousands of playes accounts, but it is better that this feature never see the light.

It just an idea if you really want to listen.

I believe this feature is incredibly detrimental to the game and should be removed immediately. Sure, I can see its place in Bedrock Edition servers that are official partners, but there are literally thousands of private servers on Java Edition. This is a feature that DOES NOT need to have "perfect parity between versions." Java servers have had their own set of moderators for years upon years, why muscle into their role? I also don't believe it should be implemented in Realms as they're much smaller and invite-only. If a Realms player is misbehaving, let the owner of the Realm deal with them by taking them off the invite/whitelist. After all, they are the one paying for the server, it should be their right to decide what goes and what doesn't.

On top of this, I'm incredibly worried about the fact that in some versions if you are banned from multiplayer, you are banned from your own, private, singleplayer worlds. This is completely outrageous, appalling, and outright unfair. A player should never have their access to their own private worlds (where by definition they can't hurt or insult anybody) for a game they paid for revoked.

Mojang, please listen to the community and revoke/push back against this feature. I sincerely think this is terrible for Minecraft's overall health as it will inevitably alienate large parts of the player base by permanently banning innocent people just because someone abused the ban button as they had a bad day. We've been fine without it for years.

Our server, our rules. If anyone got a problem with something said in chat turn chat off. Like some people act all smooth-brained thinking that the only option is to get the player basically banned from the entire game for something mundane. If they throw a fit over it add a system where they can turn off messages from a specific person. With this new feature don’t be shocked when a few million people drop from the player base.

This feature is probably the single worst received addition to the game to date. This feature will instantly kill anarchy servers when it's added, and it's only a matter of time until someone finds an exploit that allows them to permanently ban any and all players. If you plan on adding this, at the very least make it configurable, and just ban them per server. It's not fair for you to ban a player from a game they payed for, only to get false banned. The reason people are drawn to the game is how free it is, but now you taking that freedom away.

Last time something like this happened almost everyone could ban anyone they wanted to. Thank goodness there are mods to prevent reports already.

How can you not understand what will happen to the comunity. You are going to lose the game if it continues like this. Making a report-system like this is foolish. The game will die if you stop listining to the comunity completly. Parity might be great, but only if its not compromizing our ability to play the game. Chats should only be moderated by the owners of servers, not by some outsiders that don't know the context. It has worked the entire time, so why are you changing it. And your moderators are not doing their job correctly. How are there so many people that are banned for no reson. You don't even tell the players why they are banned and make it difficult to apeal a ban. Thats just awful and cruel.

Server owners should be able to opt out of the new chat reporting. It will be easy for someone else to false ban you if they get annoyed. This will probably lead to many people in the player base who got false banned leaving.

This is not a case of the "silent majority" or a "loud minority." Please, for the sake of your game, do not implement the moderation system. No global system should be implemented.

I do not pay you to moderate my server for me. I do not want you to moderate my server for me. I would like to decide what is acceptable in my own private space. I do not pay you to run my server.
