Java players are perfectly capable of moderating their own communities and want to continue doing so. Please remove the chat report system.

Any control or limitation to the freedom of people playing on PLAYERS-PAID servers makes no sense, if it's limited to bedrock where servers are controled it's fine. But implementing this to the player-driven areas of java is just... a shot below the belt...

Please, please, please PLEASE do NOT add this. This is a feature that nobody, not server owners, not server players, want. Whilst it may sound like a good idea in theory, in practice it's going to be abused to get likely thousands, maybe even tens of thousands of players false banned from any form of minecraft multiplayer. A player being banned on one server because someone thought it'd be funny to false report them meaning that they cannot play on their own private servers is bad and will only serve to increase the negative reputation minecraft is getting as of late.

    Please do not add this.
    -A concerned minecraft player.

I dont like this. This is completely taking the privacy of servers and moderators and admins are already doing a well enough job. I dont like this feature and banning players from playing multiplayer entirely is absurd. Not only can this system be exploited but a lot of things can be taken out of context and one day if you add bots instead of people reviewing it will become a chaos of false bans. I dont like this direction.

Overall this is quite outrageous. It's the fact that I could die in bedwars and say "frick" and then I'd get banned from Minecraft in which I paid for. It's just the fact that now I could say anything and without context I could get banned for it. Imagine your in a server and you say "Yea I got a few dogs." then after that you say "They are all bitches" But if a player reports the last statement, they will get banned because there isnt the "dog" before it. Bitch is the name of a female dog, so if someone reports that without realising the context before it they can just get banned. In every game with a ban system there can always be false bans. What about duped accounts? Smidge for example, imagine for whatever reason they are in a realms world and they say "just pop your stuff in a chest and die" and the other gets banned. There are just to many problems. It's just better to remove it than use it as an experiment where thousands of innocent minecraft players could get banned.

If my reasonings are bad then forgive me. I just feel this is an unjustified reason for minecraft and it should never be implemented. Anarchy servers are ruined now which people had fun. I don't know what people thought implementing this but its just outrageous and if mojang truly wants the community to be happy then listen to what we say or else this will be the downfall of minecraft. And our childhood memories would be wiped.

Do NOT do this. Centralized moderation on Realms kind of makes sense though it should still be opt-in and people banned should still be able to play on servers that don't take part in this system.

On privately hosted java servers it is not only unacceptable, it is downright outrageous. One would think the backlash you have been receiving from the community would be enough to scrap this idea. The community which, mind you, has been playing this game for over a decade without a big brother watching their every move and without descending into chaos as pretty much every server has it's own moderation, working according to that particular server's culture.

This is a blatant attack against that sort of community-driven player experience in favor of corporate oversight of human interactions. And this is without even getting into the potential abuse of the system as I am sure many players (and your customers since that's your language) have pointed out before. It is impossible to make fair judgements about a persons intent without context and it is impossible to know the context of a chat exchange between two people from just their in-game interactions, let alone just the messages.

please do not implement this, if players are choosing to pay for their own server from a third party, or hosting the server themselves, they should be able to use the server how they please, whether they add their own moderation plugins and moderate the server themselves as has been a thing and worked perfectly fine for years. it makes more sense to make this an opt-in system, having the server owner choose to enable it, and warning users the server has it enabled,, as well as this a modified server software could theoretically fake messages and then modified client could report those faked messages, allowing for malicious users to globally ban anyone,, all of this can be avoided by not reinventing the wheel, and sticking with what works and has been working since the start of servers

the public outcry should be a sign that you're doing something terribly wrong, add other moderation options but don't force them on everyone and don't moderate people's private servers where they mess about with their friends and don't get offended, if a ban needed to happen there then the server owners could easily do that themselves

The Chat reportig is by far the most disappointing thing Mojang has done in years.

Please remove it entierly, it would only hurt every public server. Or add it only on partnered servers and realms

Please do not implement chat reporting for servers or just give server owners the option to disable this feature. Servers already have their own staff team and server rules thag are managed themselves. If a player doesn't like certain rules of a server, they can simply remove the server from their server list and find a server that fits them. Doing this is not only overstepping into the privacy and community management of independent servers, but also setting up Mojang for a moderation nightmare. Overall I think this feature is a bad idea and I personally think it should not be added.

I don't like the chat reporting feature. At the time when Minecraft was not owned by Microsoft, Mojang was trusting the community to ban toxic players. And this system worked well for a decade. Banning players from all the Minecraft servers is not a good idea, and already happened in the past : about 10 years ago, a plugin called MC Admin, was released, it allowed to ban players from servers, and if a player got banned from 3 different servers using MC Admin, they get banned from all servers using this plugin. But a group of players called Team Avolition has set up 3 servers, and started banning players for no reason. This plugin became a failure, and a proof that this type of moderation does not work. Mojang should let the community moderate their servers.

Chat Reporting would be a nightmare for both the players and the hired moderators at Mojang/Microsoft.

The only reason that it would exist aside from keeping the game "family friendly" is just for the sake of collecting more user data.

I'm glad that profanity isn't a reason for getting banned anymore, but it doesn't stop the thing from still being abused.

As a former server Co-Owner, I feel this is so unnecessary. The Server community already have server side moderators & some even have their own chat filters! Not only does this new feature is very much easy to abuse, but the server side moderators already did the job WAY better than this "feature". Anyways, don't do it.

    Sincerely,

    The Minecraft Community

Do not add chat reporting to Minecraft Java, in fact adding any type of moderation by Microsoft/Mojang is a horrible idea, The community as a whole does not want this.

Microsoft/Mojang doesn't get to decide what I can say on my OWN private server that I play with my friends nor should it decide what anyone can say on any server on Java, these servers are privately owned and not run my Microsoft/Mojang in the slightest so you shouldn't be able to ban who ever you want from ANY server.

We the community have been moderating ourselves for more than a decade and I see no reason to change that now, practically no one wants chat reporting and adding it is only going to be harmful.

Any kind of global chat moderation like this is a terrible idea. It has always been that a server can choose how much to moderate its players and as a player you can choose what server to play on, forcing every server to have a absurdly high level of moderation (with entire multiplayer bans) does a disservice to the entire community like anarchy servers that don't want moderation, servers with friends where they people want the ability to say what they want when they know everyone on the server well and a wide range of other types of servers.

I know there is a demand for moderation as most servers have it but this system needs to be toggleable and multiplayer bans are way too far. But even with those changes servers have gotten on fine with moderation plugins and staff until now so I see this feature as having no need and only disadvantages.

TLDR - mojang please no oh god no

Speaking as someone who purchased Minecraft back in its Beta development years; Chat Report should be entirely removed as it stands. This game has gone approximately a decade with a thriving multiplayer community (even under Minecraft's so-called "Dark Ages") who have been able to moderate themselves according to their rules, on servers they pay to host, oftentimes with their own tools to automate it relative to their needs.

By blanketing communities with chat reports that bypass their established rules and punishments, you are not only ignoring and taking away control from those communities looking to regulate themselves while having fun, but you are also smothering, driving away, and potentially destroying a lot of those communities (some that have been running for years with no troubles) in your crusade to centralize moderation. No amount of changing around vague rulings in the report will fix this inherent problem with the feature.

If you absolutely must keep chat report in some capacity, stick it as a Realms and officially hosted Mojang/Microsoft servers exclusive function. Those are your own servers, so it's your right to take away the ball in your court if players misbehave. But believe me, if this feature even so far as extends outside that scope, it will be thoroughly abused to the point that a lot of false-positives and context-ignorant reports and bans will be made. I would sooner trust a server's moderation team to make the right call over this report system.
