This "bug" has been in the game for so long, that many players consider it a feature. It has been used to create some amazing technical builds, and does not harm everyday gameplay. Patching this may also likely keep the technical playerbase on old versions for at least a few months, which is not desirable. This has been used to do so many cool things, and a sudden fix is not welcome. We love this game, and we hope you respect our voice.
Notable comments (I had to cut for leng)
The work that we do makes content that in turn makes Minecraft more interesting and intices more people to play the game. In the return the developers could give us the least bit of respect by not sabotaging the game mechanics we rely on to make our content work.
Mojang if you think this through, you'd see that getting rid of this would have the opposite effect of what you'd want; it would make it worse for technical players as well as casual players, cause some technical players to stay in outdated versions, and destroy a lot of complicated redstone builds which players have poured hundreds of hours into. This will also lead to a decrease in motivation to continue coming up with creative redstone contraptions, because who knows when the next feature which has been in the game for years will get removed?
It would make things worse for casual players too is because this feature allowed players to fire an arrow towards a ghasts fireball and actually make the fireball hit the ghast, which is no longer possible
