Probably the most missed opportunity in my 10 years of playing this game and easily was one of my favorite features for many reasons.
#1 it got the community way more engaged with potions because normally most of the playerbase (myself included) didn't even bother because of how tedious it was to farm the items for potions for an effect that would last no time, making it a VERY poor investment and not worth doing to reach endgame.
#2 It made exploration for new and existing players less punishing.
Let me explain this. Players like my girlfriend have a really difficult time with hand to eye coordination and remembering "what buttons do what" and she has been playing for a while. Dripstone x Potion made it to where I can help her load up on healing, night vision, regeneration, etc. Before her journey so she can explore more (without instantly dying to 100 mobs 50ft out of the door on easy mode) and she LOVED IT.
#3 dripstones are actually useless now.
We've all heard the "but you can get infinite lava now" but let's be real mojang, duping exists so nothing is off of the table for exploiters.. That being said there is actually no purpose for dripstone other than pure house cosmetics.
Conclusion/suggestion: Mojang if you really thought it was that "OP" (which I didn't think it was) instead of removing such a beautiful feature all together, why not just make a considerable increase to the amount of time it takes a cauldron to fill up when there is a potion detected in it.
