I’m not going to comment on it’s functionally as I haven’t tested it out, but I really think the texture needs serious improvement because as of right now it’s just not a nice mob to look at

If it could be less saturated so it’s a little less jarring to look at and the texture resolution was changed to 6-8 to match existing mobs it would definitely look a whole lot better. Right now it just doesn’t fit in well with Minecraft’s current look and overall just looks really out of place

I think Allay should be able to interact with the jukebox too.

But unlike notebox which only lasts up to 30 seconds, jukebox will be the favorite block of allay for the duration of the disc being played.

Allays need to be as useful as it's hyped up to be. Colored allays should be assigned on a specific noteblock tune permanently until the block is gone. AI should focus on dropping items while on noteblock, and shouldn't get stuck etc. They can breed using jukeboxes and lured by music discs. If they are lured by music disc, they'll stop wandering around for a bit, allowing the player to give them items.

Minecraft needs unique mobs spawning at night, or on certain moon phases, and allays fit well at night due to their colorful saturation, flying in the night skies. In the future, I'm hoping that there's rare powerful mobs to fight exclusively at night, players never had a reason to explore the night.

I'm not sure about dancing animation etc. I prefer allays and especially item drops to be as not-laggy as possible!

    • There should be a way to connect each allay to specific note block or to a specific note.
    • This should be great idea if evoker change the allay into vex by using magic for a specific period of time or player need to cure it just like curing zombie villager.
    • Allay can be breaded by using chorus fruit making it more challenging for player.
    • Baby allay is needed .
    • Allay can sit on player shoulder. It will look so good.

The allays forgetting their noteblock after 30 seconds makes sense as it lets you move them between locations. That said there should be a way to let them remember the block indefinitely. I think allays shouldn't forget noteblocks that stay powered.

Hope you can add a little dance animation when the allay has a favorite note block

Allays should be hunted by Phantoms. It would give a good reason for players to use them indoors as there is a danger for them outside at night.

I think allay should be tameable with an item(maybe cookies) or it should be tameable as a gratitude for making it free from illagers. But I think it is really cute.

Right now the allay treats groups of items such as wool/terracotta as the same item regardless of color or variation. Although this is most likely a bug, I feel like it would be good to use this system for non-stackable items such as armor, tools, enchanted books etc. But the allay would still focus on the specific block/item for stackable items. For example, if you give the allay a sharpness V book, then it will seek out any enchanted book, not just sharpness books. If you give it a block of white wool, then it will only seek out and pick up white wool blocks.

Additionally, I think if you put an item frame on a noteblock, place an item in that frame, then allays carrying the item depicted on the frame would prioritize that noteblock as a drop off area.

Keep the sculk particles that travel to the Allay if they where meant to be a placeholder. It makes a lot of sense, and the color of the particle and mob work really well together.

The spawning mechanism is really cool. Please keep the allay exclusive to the mansions and outposts. Them spawning at night wouldn't work with the lore of the game (or at least a presume that allays are related to the vex) and it would make it to easy to get them. Even if they get removed from outposts, keep them in the mansions as that would give players a reason to go to them, as that now things like totems of undying do not require a use for that structure.

I think the Allay shouldnt move as much when it doesnt have any items to pick. Maybe a hovering in-place animation would be more appropriate (think Paimon from Genshin impact)

I'm playing on iOS (touchscreen control) and havent found a way to change the allay's selected item. I tried clicking the Allay button (only works when the allay previously didn't have a selected item) and tapping on them hurts them (both short taps and long taps, both while standing and while shifting).
Please, can anyone explain me how to change the item?

I tried spawning some allays with the /summon command, gave them items, and associated them to a noteblock. For some reason, they're not picking up any items from the ground (nor dropping anything to the noteblock), they just move without doing anything.

My first impressions are that they're cute but they're hard to interact with and don't behave as expected.

The allay is such a cool and necessary concept but this iteration would simply not be useful. Resetting the noteblock every 30 seconds is pointless and very annoying. The movement and item collection prioritisation is extremely inconsistent at the moment, which makes it almost totally useless. Grouping items in arbitrary blocks (ex. all wool colours being treated the same) is exactly the opposite of what the allay would be useful for, it makes them less functional than traditional item sorting. The ability to sort non-stackable items was one of the reasons people wanted the Allay in the first place. I think it's really cool that the Allay gives new life to previously underused structures, but there needs to be a way to breed or at least heal them, given how low their health is and how hard they are to control. I propose that XP would be a really unique and cool way of doing this, it avoids the issue of having a special case for some breeding item to give them (since normally right clicking or throwing would just give the item to the Allay), and it also ties in well with some of the themes of this update -- namely giving players new ways to work with XP in skulk. I think the Allay has great promise though and it certainly delivers on the cuteness we saw in the promos!

    Firstly,
    The Allay is too fast
    Secondly,
They're so hard to find, only being found on pillager outpost cages and woodland mansions
    Thirdly,
Why make the Allay be connected to a noteblock for 30 SECONDS?
And last but not the least,
    Better pathfinding.

THE ALLAY SPAWNER SHOULD BE HARDER. Pillager outposts and woodland mansion being where the allays are kept are smart but I think it's too easy. An allay is a very handy mob / companion to have, some say say it's too OP. I have no problems with the mob itself but the access to obtaining them is my concern.

    - My idea to where to get them is in the Deep Dark Cities.

    - If they will only be found in Pillager Outposts or Woodland mansions, I think it's only fair if you can only get 1 per location giving that it's too OP.

The allay is a nice small flying mob. It's neon and glows bright in dark areas. However an issue I have is you have to take the item it is currently holding out of their hands to replace a new item. But after you take out the item they fly off making it very hard to give/get the items. Other than that I think it just needs to be tweaked on how fast it flys when owned by someone

I've been enjoying the mob allay in the game but I thought it's too fast and I can't click on the join button the items it picks up should have a button that says get items from bedrock and I thought it might drop some devices if the mob delivers all items at once I think they could enter the inventory automatically as for the notebook I liked his interaction but I think he could bring the mob to the player not the player having to go after the mob when already released from prison

They need to be reproducible in some manner, which is currently my biggest concern. Allay are are an important utility mob that can easily accidentally end up being lost (to arrows, lava, or even just literally losing track of them among many other ways of losing them), and larger servers are likely gonna have people competing to see who manages to get the Allays first.

Secondly and less importantly, they should be able to dance like they do in the trailer!

If an Allay is given a shulker box it should be able to look around for any of items that are the ones assigned inside & give them to you. It would also have a bigger inventory. This wouldn't be overpowered because the allays would still technically have 1 slot by default, but this encourages endgame content to be able to expand the possibilities. These custom item groups would really be useful. This allows players to have Allays find exactly what they want, rather than Allays picking random groups themselves, like in the current beta they collect stone, granite, diorite, etc. if you just give them 1 stone. If you wanted that, you could give them a shulker box with those items inside.

I think Allays should be renewable like all other passive mobs, but fairly difficult to obtain like a reward from Raids given how handy they are.

Allays should remember their favorite noteblock much longer than 30 seconds, as if you let them go search for items by the time they return 30 seconds has past and they go to the player instead making the noteblock redundant outside item sorters.

From testing, I'm noticing several issues:

-If an Allay sees an item they want to collect but can't reach it, they'll get stuck looking at that item and be unable to collect other items.

-Stationary Allays only collect items when facing certain angles.

-If an Allay hears a noteblock but can't reach it, it won't

-Certain items aren't visible when held by an Allay. Notably Bows and Tridents

There should be a special food or item to heal the alley because how rare they are it would really suck if you went thousands of blocks and you find the allay you go home just for a creeper to come up to you explode and kills the allay so there should be a way to heal the allay or maybe if not breed them

    My thoughts:

    1. I think there should be a way to make a specific allay follow you without it holding an item

    2. Allays could "examine" certain blocks & mobs (by hovering close to them and looking at them for a while), to make them look like they're curious.

    3. Allays should not try to pick up items in a 1 block proximity of the player or their assigned note block.

The allay is great, but I can think of some changes that can be made like adding the sounds, make it dance to the music of note blocks (even though there is a playanimation command, but i would prefer it can have a cute little dance.), make it tameable (using cookies because i think it would love cookies and when tamed, it would have a halo and would follow you everywhere you go.), when holding a sword
(any material or enchantment) the tamed allays will help you fight the hostile mobs/neutral mobs (when hostile), when the deep dark stuff from java edition come out, a tamed allay can help you out when the warden is around (the allay can find a hiding spot then it will make a certain noise to tell you to follow the allay).

Although I haven't played the beta, I do have a few suggestions as to what the allay could do.

First off, it would be a nice addition if the allay could hum very softly. What would make this feature even better is if they would hum some of the music disks (cat, chirp, 13...oh wait, nevermind on that last one). The allay should have a high-pitched voice that would sound just slightly unsettling. Maybe it should have an echo effect, something that makes it sound otherworldly yet still recognizable.

Second, (and I know this idea seems far-fetched, but just hear me out) the allay should be able to eat redstone dust. I know sounds idiotic, but listen. Many players don't like or even know how to use redstone. This would make mining for the dust more valuable since it would heal the allay and give redstone a secondary use. Not to mention that you need redstone to craft a noteblock, which, I think, would give a little nod to the crafting recipe.

Third, and this last one is important, the allay should have idle animations. I know everyone seems to be up in arms about the lack of animations, but those will come later. What I want to see is just a couple of animations the allay does while doing nothing else. Just maybe spinning around in lazy circles, dancing to a tune that it's humming, or just looking around its environment. I know this might be hard for the devs to implement, but it would make the allay truly come alive.

Anywho, those are my ideas, hope you enjoyed!
