While we know about the Warden, what if something else lurked in the deep dark... Or someone?
Deep Dark Illagers are loyal followers of the Warden who call the Cities beneath the sun home, though neutral to the player they become hostile once they are harmed, or when the warden is on your trail.
These new Illagers are only accessable once the Warden is summoned/on the prowl, and they like to trade. But what they want is enchanted items!
Click the neutral illagers to open a UI and place any enchanted item in. Wait a few moments, time is precious when the warden lurks. And when they've thought it over they will offer you three items from a loot table, some unique to the deep dark biome!
But don't take out your frustration on them, as with even one punch they will let out a terrible yell and summon witches.
Now witches are special, they throw splash potions. At you. Which make sound. And now the Illagers are mad, the witchs are mad, and it's really not a fun time for anyone. So how will you take on these illagers? They can summon the darkness, and with their soul candles in hand. they will find you.
This gives an interesting reason to visit the deep dark, and solves a few issues I often come upon late game, notably what to do when you have too many enchanted items. The grindstone is only good for so much, and useless when it comes to curses. The witch also provides a foil to an idea I'll suggest in a later post.
