Option to turn off Christmas features.

Not everyone celebrates the religious festival of Christmas, but many people of various backgrounds do not celebrate it for a range of reasons, including Jews, Muslims, some Christian denominations, and many non-religious people. For many, it is hugely important not to celebrate it.

Having Christmas elements (i.e. chests looking like Christmas presents, etc.) added to the general game as a non-optional feature is not inclusive to those who don't celebrate it, and would be a bit like having elements of Hanukkah, Ramadan, Diwali, Beltane, etc., added to the game during certain parts of the year, regardless of whether or not people wanted to celebrate these. Same for other religious celebrations of selective groups, such as Easter, Halloween/Samhain, etc.

It would be more inclusive to have these as optional, so those who want it can still have it, but those who don't aren't forced to have it. This would respect everyone's freedom of beliefs, and everyone would have the option they personally wanted to choose.

    I agree. Even as someone who celebrates Christmas, they're really intrusive and kind of ugly. Not to mention the textures for the single chest and the Ender Chest are identical, which is extremely confusing.

    Can this matter be brought back? Rather than having to go through changing the date or using texture packs just to disable the textures, please add an option in the settings for toggling the holiday textures/features.

    It's not just for those who either don't celebrate certain holidays or simply dislike the visual change, but those using mods that alter chest textures -- the holiday skins override them, hence not being able to utilise the visuals of the mods.

    It also helps keep the game more neutral from real-world things, and holidays are quite culturally niche...

    This is extremely important. Minecraft is a game meant to give players the freedom to experience the worlds they want, in whatever way they want, and the Christmas textures definitely take away a very important part of that freedom.

    It is already bad enough to have Christmas decorations in your face everywhere you go during festive season, and having it in Minecraft as well just feels way too intrusive. As someone who does not celebrate Christmas, the chest textures are extremely annoying, to the point I end up avoiding playing during the holidays at all.

    can we get some more votes on this? I know it's kind of old, but it'd be nice to be able to turn off the obnoxious present chest textures. especially considering it even covers modded and trapped chests, which is extremely annoying when you use the colors of the chests as a sorting method for items :/
