Right now, in Minecraft there is some form of magic: we have enchantments that we put on our gear, we have potions...but some mobs, can use another type of magic: the Guardians have a magic beam attack, the Wither attacks with skulls, the Evoker can evoke fangs and Vexes...in Minecraft Dungeons we have also the Enchanter, which enchants his allies, the Iceologer, that creates chuncks of ice, and many artifacts can be considered magical...
I suggest to add Spell Books: book that can be found in chests, bought from librarians or obtained when enchanting at level 30 a book (random chance). Every book, can have a maximum of 12 spells.
To use a book, we can right-click when it is in our main hand, or in the off-hand; then, there can be a GUI, where we will have to draw a symbol, to cast a spell contained in the book (this, for the mobile players), and when we cast a spell, we will have to pay a certain amount of xp points (not levels, because it would be too expensive).
This could bring a new type of pvp, more skill-based and strategical: the player will have to decide which spells to put on the book, and will have to draw the symbols quickly, or he might be killed when he draws them.
But since this would be magic damage, there can also be a new enchantment, that protects from magic damage, so this would balance the things.
