I've been thinking that for a while now, we've gotten 10 drops so far, soon to be 11... they can turn the update number over to 1.22 after the mounts of mayhem drop. 11 small updates over the course of a year or two is enough to be considered a full update in my book, and while it's not as grand or robust as a legit full update, it still allows for one of minecrafts most iconic parts of itself to stay consistent.

(plus some of these drops have been bigger than some full game updates so...)

I feel like adding 1. at the beggining would be great still, as the 1. is iconic to minecraft version numbering syste,

I think they should just increase the version number every year so the number doesn't get too big and maybe add an extra number or letter for bugfixes

    Something like:

    1.22.10 or 1.22.1a

    1.22.11 or 1.22.1b (for bugfixes)

    1.22.20 or 1.22.2a (for a new drop)

1.23.10 or 1.23.1a (for a new year or big update)

Here's the things. They do that to hide the stagnation in the updating cycle

As the new version format don't have a number designated for major update as there won't be any.

    Here's how things work :

    + Calver (New) :

    Years.Gamedrops.Patches

    + Semver (Before)

: Super Major Update.Major Update. Patches and Game Drops + Smaller Patches (bedrock edition only)

Effectively turn any future updates into Patches or game drops for 1.21 until the end of Microsoft itself.

Microsoft can hide from others. They could even hide it from themselves, but there's only one truth and that's the Truth.

The Truth is they failed and this Reformat is their final admission of failure before their Great downfall.

The Last Update where Minecraft Stagnation is at its most visible.

The Coming update will be where Microsoft attempt to hide it with CalVer. To make stagnation look like progress and regression look like good fun.
