This new versioning system will break consistency with every previous update Minecraft has ever had. There's a many more sophisticated ways to handle this, I'll list 2 ways the consistency could be kept.
- Major/minor drops:
The current versioning system use for drops (E.G. 1.21.8->1.21.9) creates large numbers for the minor place of the version number. I propose increasing the major version number for larger drops, like the Mounts of Mayhem drop. (E.G. 1.21.10->1.22)
-All drops equal:
All drops can be treated as major updates, and can be versioned as so. The only reason the minor update decimal place was used in the past was to signify bugfixes, and that's how it should still be used.
