A Vision for Minecraft’s Underground Future As a lifelong fan of Minecraft, I’ve always loved the thrill of digging deep, uncovering secrets, and getting lost in the vast underground. But after the Caves & Cliffs update, I believe we’ve only scratched the surface literally. Why Stop at -64? The current world depth ends at Y=-64, but what if we could go deeper? Imagine descending into primordial layers, where the world grows darker, stranger, and more dangerous. A place where even the Warden dares not tread. We dwarves, those of us who live to mine need more depth. We want to feel small in a massive, mysterious world. We want to get lost in the dark, to feel the thrill of discovery again. New Underground Biomes & Structures Let’s bring life and death to the deep. Glowing Mushroom Biomes Bioluminescent fungi, and fungal mobs. Frozen Caverns Underground ice biomes with frostbitten mobs, and ancient frost ruins. Sunken Abyssal Oceans: Deep ocean trenches that plunge below -64, giving purpose to the Nautilus Mount and its Breath of the Nautilus effect. Ancient Catacombs & Collapsed Mineshafts: More than just wooden beams, think labyrinthine ruins, cursed miners, and forgotten machines. What We’re Asking For Extend the underground beyond -64 into Deeper Realms. Introduce new underground biomes and diverse structures. Give players a reason to explore again—to fear the dark, to seek the unknown, and to uncover the forgotten.
