Up to the point of creating chests that have the players inventory, I'm in. The rest is a little bit too much. Especially the netherite border, which seems like a thing that some use to farm netherite and I doubt that Mojang wants to do it too easy. A better way to achieve the goal is to make the recovery chest not burnable.

Same goes for the light (shall it be a beacon or what do you mean?) I might think showing the chests with the glowing effect through the walls, when using (right click) the recovery compass. This combined with a cooldown.

And even if you sometimes really wish you could just teleport to your last death, that seems too easy to retrieve your stuff.

Suspicious blocks and guardian spirits? Why exactly? I think that would be overcomplicating things.

One question that remains is, what blocks may be replaced? Only air? Maybe lava and water as well? And what shall happen if the block is blocked, for example when suffocating inside of blocks (sand, gravel). Shall it not spawn at all? At the nearest possible spot above the coordinate? How big should be the maximum distance it can spawn one death?

Yeah... Last question is probably the easiest to figure out but it's there.

I agree with your opinion, as the idea of teleporting to the recovery chest is very easy. I think we can eliminate that possibility. Another question you asked is about the borders of the different ores. But, since you mentioned Netherite, I believe the border of the diamond chest can be used with the evolution upgrade to transform this chest into Netherite borders. Another question you asked is about the "light" beam—yes, it's a beacon, but it only appears if the player is using the compass. I'll answer the other questions another time.
