Copper Golems currently sort items together that perfectly match one another. For example, if only an Unbreaking III book is placed in a chest, only other Unbreaking III books will be stored with it. For the most part, it should remain this way, as it gives us something we are currently unable to do. However, in some cases it is arguably too specific, as Copper Golems take into account not only an item's enchantments but the way it got them (whether via an Enchanting Table or Anvil) as well as it's exact durability. So I suggest an idea I have seen others share, which is that a Golem's oxidation level could change the way it sorts items. Here are some possibilities.
Exposed: Exposed Golems would still be very precise, but less so than the regular Golem. It could, for example, store Unbreaking II books in a chest that contains an Unbreaking III book.
Weathered: Weathered Golems Could perhaps sort items into slightly broader categories. In this case, if an Efficiency book was placed into a chest, it would store anything with enchantments that can be put onto tools, but nothing more (In this scenario, should enchantments like Sharpness be stored alongside Efficiency, since they can both be applied to Axes?).
Oxidised: As of now, I can’t really think of anything good and unique to add. Perhaps the best thing would be to implement the feature proposed during the 2021 mob vote, which was that Oxidised Golems would freeze in place, essentially becoming statues.
