Saddlepacks

Should be able to have a saddle pack on a horse like you can put chests on llamas and donkeys you could craft them with 4 leather and a chest and to get more area in the pack you could upgrade with a smithing table and more chests you can get up to 10 000 slots is a saddle pack but the more in the horse the slower it gets another thing you could do is make it lighter by use it a smithing table and a feather the more feathers the lighter you can make it so if you add 10 chests witch each give 1000 slots and 100 feathers which lower the load by 100 items you could pretty much balance it out so your horse would not get any slower

    10,000 slots seems a little op, are you counting stackable items in a slot? 

    This is a good idea to give feathers, smithing table, and horse more use.
